Retune Needed right away?

So I am installing MAK cat deletes on my whipple stage 2 car within the next two weeks. I am running everything that came with the whipple stage 2 kit even the tune. Im installing the cat deletes out here in Arizona before I leave back to California for thanksgiving because its hard to find places out there that will install it due to BS laws.

My question is: Has anyone ran MAK cat deletes or catless longtubes on their car with the Whipple tune fine? Will I be to install the MAK cat deletes and run the whipple tune on the 6hour drive back without my car blowing up on the freeway or stalling etc..? I am getting it dyno tuned back in Cali when I drive back after installing the MAK cat deletes in AZ.

Should be fine. You will obviously have a check engine light. I personally wouldn’t beat on the car. I would just cruise around until you got a tune.

You could run the big daddies garage o2 spacers. I used the 90 degree ones to get rid of the CEL.

no, a retune is not needed, it will just throw a Cel for cat efficiency, but this wont affect performance at all

I am running these and have no CEL at all, no cats on a twin turbo setup.

its a custom kit I did myself and yep everything reads green I could pass emissions here in my state if it was time. All they do is plug it up to the scanner 99% of the time they wont look under the car. No CEL = pass.

I'm glad you asked this.

I am still running cats but am changing my exhaust setup. I have a stage 2 whipple with long tubes (not using whipple tune). I am changing my exhaust from the stock 2.5" pipes to a full 3". I called my tuner and they recommended a tune. I was told by my tuner that they don't recommend beating on it until I get a tune refresh due to a difference in back pressure caused by the new exhaust.

That is good to hear. I hate to ask the same question, but are you sure both the O2 and HO2 monitors are passing? I didn’t think the defoulers would make those two monitors happy. In any case thanks for giving me hope.

Okay so what I am taking out is that yes the car will be fine running the MAK cat deletes on the whipple tune with the big daddies garage angled 02 sensor, just dont go WOT until the car is tuned
