I thought I'd start thread on what winter wheels fit our cars. It's already snowing in Montana; I needed to get right on this. I picked up a set of 4 Ford Performance 9"x19" ET 45 for under $480 shipped to my door. These were Ford Performance wheels for the 2015 EcoBoost Mustang with the Brembo PP brakes. The FP dealer didn't think they would fit, but as you can see they are perfect and exactly the same size as our OE Bullitt front wheel. This same FP wheel may be available in a different finish, dark stainless, but I couldn't find a set and time was running out. I know; they're ugly... but they're high quality OE Ford, they fit and are cheap.

I thought about buying 4 Bullitt front wheels, but none are in the Ford Parts system and the street price is over $700 *each* plus shipping. Ouch!

These are exactly what I’m looking for. Do you happen to have a part number or name perhaps? Your link doesn’t work for me. Went to ford here in Canada with an image and they had no idea where they came from. Also ford performance website doesn’t have them listed from what I saw.

Thanks in advance.

Why would anyone even consider driving a Bullitt thru the winter? Especially in Canada...man I just don't get that.

Why not? Don't you think a 480HP, RWD, 6MT snowmobile sounds like fun? With proper rubber, it's fun and safe. My Nokian Hakkapelitta R2's are great; want even more fun? Get studded Hakka 9's :cwl:

Last time I had to drive a rwd performance car thru winter was back in '98 and '99 when I only had a '98 Z28 with a T56. I don't have fond memories of those winters...I don't know how that car didn't end up wrecked actually, I had many close calls in that car.

You can drive any car in the snow - as long as it has good rubber and you know how to drive in the snow.

I grew up in Scotland in the 70's - snowed heavy every winter, all cars where rear wheel drive manuals then. No ABS or traction control and people just had whatever tires they had back then. Everyone managed :)

With true winter tires it'll do better that vast majority of AWD "SUV"s on the road with their all seasons. And Bullit is just the Mustang - yes, special edition to some, not so special to others. Why not enjoy it year round ?

As a new Bullitt owner (since Feb), I am needing to get ready for winter in OH. I might be pushing it, so I need to get this quick.
Could you please post links and all the info needed for both tires and wheels you have? Do your Brembos fit fine then?

FWIW, I went with a square set of 245/45R19 Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 AO Audi on 19x9 Boss 302 wheels all around last year. They're a bit narrower that the standard front tires for a little more penetration through powdery snow, and closer to the standard rear wheel diameter. I will confess that if there's actually much snow on the ground, I'm in my 4x4 Tacoma with Blizzak true snow/ice tires.

Judging by "02048" in your location, you're in Massachusetts? I've been through MN and ND winters with an old Escort, but this is my first winter in OH while having my Bullitt. Previous winters were mild-ish, but don't wanna risk it with my current setup.
By description it looks like you got a GT. Does a PP1 make it a staggered set as well? I am a little scared putting all 4 same on the Bullitt.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Yes, I'm in SE Massachusetts, about halfway between Boston and Providence. Snowfall varies year to year (last year, we hardly got any, a few years ago the snowplow berms on the side of the road were 5' high).

Yes, I have a PP1 GT, which has the same 255/40-19 front (9" wheels) 275/40-19 rear (9.5" wheels) staggered setup as the Bullitt.

The folks at TireRack actually pulled my order for manual processing, as the wheel / tire combination was not on their "already tested" list. After a few minutes of discussion, they agreed that there shouldn't be any clearance issues with the setup, and there weren't.

I prefer a narrower tire if I'm going to be in actual snow, and the 245/14R19 was the narrowest I could do without getting into a bulging / stretching situation on various wheels. There were a couple of square options I could have gone with, but that one had the closest rear diameter match to keep the speedometer close to accurate (it went from being within 1 mph of GPS speed to within 2 mph). Front diameter was slightly higher, but you can't see it in the stance of the car. I can also rotate them year-to-year, which helps stretch the life of the tires.

I went with the 19" Ford Performance Boss 302 wheels as they didn't require centering rings, spacers, or any other similar things to get the offset and other fitment items correct. I also like the look of them.

The Pilot Alpin 5 is a "performance snow", and I was fine with that as I have the 4x4 for really bad days. If I only had the GT to drive and knew that I would HAVE to take it regardless of the weather, I would likely have gone with a set of Blizzak WS snow/ice tires. I had those on both of my BMWs and the Passat. I found them to be outstanding if I was on the road before the plows.

Thanks for the writeup!!
I actually literally just got done chatting with a person at Tire rack. He said that they do not recommend NOT getting a staggered set, i.e. he (and Ford) recommend a staggered set.
I know that makes the set up a bit more expensive, but I always get worried about this kind of stuff. It's my first vehicle with this much power, first RWD vehicle I have and add that being my daily.

Winters so far in OH weren't so bad, but I feel like I'll always have second thoughts if I don't go the proper route.
The set-up they recommended (or the site did, rather), was $2,400 after tax. That's $1,100 for staggered WINTER SOTTOZERO SERIE II (the ones that C&D suggest in their year-round use of the car in MI) and $1k for the matching rims (had a closeout on all black, which I think will look great on the Bullitt).
https://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_ga...wheelModel=F3&wheelFinish=Gloss+Black+Painted

That's also a total price with TPMS, balanced, etc., so I don't have to bother going to a tire shop to put them on and mainly, I don't have to try to haul the original wheels back to the house 1-by-1 in the Bullitt or hopefully stacked in wife's Kia Niro.

Am I crazy for being willing to spend that much? It's my daily and I want to do it right, be safe, while having the car maintain its sweet, sweet look.

Who am I to judge? My setup was $2,394.75 delivered, so I'm just as bad.

I thought about the Sottozeros, but I was underwhelmed with the Pirellis that came on my M235 for a lot of reasons, and fell back to Michelins. YMMV.

Get a set of Steeda jacking rails (https://www.steeda.com/steeda-555-5212-s550-low-profile-jacking-rails). Makes the switchover so much easier. As we have a skim of snow forecast for tomorrow, I need to look at putting my snow set on soon, and it's so much easier being able to avoid the "line the jack up with the right spot on the pinch rail" game. Only took me about a half hour to install them lying in the driveway, no lifting of the car required.

One last thing. Before you order, call TireRack and ask if you need any special mounting items (centering rings and the like) with the wheels you've chosen. Not a deal-breaker, but something to keep in mind.
