This. Have it checked out by a PDR specialist and see what he/she can do.Some PDR and touchup paint? I guess it depends if you want it perfect or not. My S500 is 5 years old now and 50k miles so I am not anal about the paint anymore, especially with all the rock chips.
I'd choose the Dr. Color Chip option any day of the week. Two options...
Expensive solution: Sand hood down to bare metal and paint again plus clear coat. It'll cost you a few hundred bucks
Inexpensive solution: Touch up paint or Dr. Color Chip. Much cheaper and does a pretty good job of hiding the scratch or chip. I say hiding because it's still noticeable up close, but blends in well so it doesn't look bad. It'll cost you between $20 and $60.
I did the exact same thing. The paint matched up perfectly on a '16 Guard colored Mustang. Just read the instructions thoroughly before you start and take your time.I'd choose the Dr. Color Chip option any day of the week.
Michigan freeways.. yikesI-94 east bound between Baker and Zeeb rd.
I used to pull a 30' travel trailer up to MIS to see CART and Indycar. That highway that goes from the Ohio turnpike directly north into Adrian is a special kind of shitty. And I thought roads around here are bad.Michigan freeways.. yikes
You’re actually the 2nd S550 owner on this site to post a pic of that same type of hood damage. I can’t recall the other user’s ID at the moment, but extremely similar damage happened to his hood while on the highway.
If both of your cars were side by side, it would look like the damage was intentional, that’s how eerily similar it would look from the posts.
damn I'm sorry man, hood damage is the worst... Get a quote from a body shop. Anything can be fixed but buying a replacement hood might prove to be more cost effective.Help!
4 summers and one week before storage, I'm driving to work and I hear a thump. I know something hit the car I don't know what or where. Can they blend the repair or is it a total hood re-spray, what do you think the cost to fix will be?
Cobra Jet,
It was in the Show us your rock-chips! thread.
Minha posted it very similar, the dent is more of a concern than the scratch.
