Surprised about the relatively poor showing on the Redeye in the 1/2 mile. I know it is traction limited but I figured the 1/2 mile would have allowed it to eventually put the power down and advance a bit higher up the list.

I'm going to use this little space to lobby for you guys to consider subscribing to Motor Trend on Demand. In my opinion it's worth it for car guys. At least it is if you have any love at all for restoration/modification to go along with the new car enjoyment. There might not be enough videos on new cars to justify it for that alone. But there's a lot of good stuff and more people paying for this content means more and better content in the future.

For a four year old chassis, the GT350 is such a sweetheart.

It lost to THE sports car, Porsche 911.

many times I’ve heard, if Porsche built a mustang, it’d say GT350 on it.

First time that I have heard... and the more I think about it, the more sense it makes. It is absolutely brilliant! If you took a base Mustang to Porsche, the GT350 is exactly what I believe they would have rolled out of Stuttgart... and they would have been damn proud of their achievement.
Owning both a GT350 and a Porsche, I can really appreciate the analogy.
Thanks for the insight Darkane...!!!

They benchmarked the 350 against the 997.2 GT3 when Ford developed it.

Either Matt Farah or Jay Leno said this. Can't remember which one.

Have to agree with sentiment expressed above (Darkane, dpAtlanta, DCShelby, lightrules, etc.)...

It is suprising that the GT350 is receiving accolades so late in its model run. Quite rare, actually. Most vehicles don't even get in the comparison when they are more than two years into the model, let alone WIN (unless it is C&D in the '90s and the car has a roundel on it).

It feels good to see the GT350 get its just deserves, given that those of us that bought one KNOW it is a helluva driver's car!

Curious why they did not go the R route?

I thought the 2019 GT350 got changes and the 2020 GT350R got changes, so possibly the R could be included next year? Personally I'm glad they looked at the regular GT350 this year. It's interesting to see the impact of the tire and spoiler change.
