So someone commented (that attended this event) that the CFTP cars have a more aggressive shift strategy than the Base cars - direct from Ford. I hope someone inquired as to whether a Base car can be reflashed using the factory CFTP files given that the hardware between the two is identical (for the transmission anyway).
Yes, I also saw that. Stangmode has a base vs track video where they talk about it.

Basically, they said the CFTP will intuitively downshift and be prepared in auto doing track work.

They didn’t say it, but it sounds like the CFTP has more of a “PDK” tune than the base model. Anyone who has driven a Porsche or seen PDK track review will understand.

And hopefully it’s true! Sucks for the base case though.

I like to disassemble things.
My point is that I believe this is a simple "upgrade" that would use the factory shift strategy. All you should need is a CFTP VIN and the files can be accessed on Ford's Service portal or from their Motorcraft website. In a perfect world it would be a simple Forscan mod but I think it'll require a flash of the transmission control module and/or possibly the engine pcm.

If you're going to be there, ask if you can. And a technical response would be greatly appreciated over Jimmy saying Tony told Mike it might work.

If they let you use it....
Another thought... are you going to have a 170# sack of potatoes in the seat next to you or do they let you out there solo?

It's a major fail if the base car can't shift the same.

Who designed this car, the Keystone Kops"? WTF....

Lolol. Doesn't even make sense.

But i see your a "Thank me for my service " type lolol.

I believe owens or one of the others lightly touched in this before.
Basically track and drag .odes are calibrated different. Ie drag mode isnt neccesarily at max rpm.
Which is something i intend to test tomorrow if i have time..
But i di get tour saying on a whole, the cftp and base have different calibrations

In time it should be easy ro do with FORscan.. or so i would believe

PS. Think im ready, or need more data collection equipment?

Assuming the hardware between the CFTP and the Base DCT is identical (transmission, fluid/capacity, lines, coolers, etc) can the CFTP shift calibration strategy be flashed to the Base car? If it would necessitate reflashes elsewhere - where? Because again, the hardware should be exactly the same.
