Need some help. I own a 2015 GT Premium with 115,000 on it. I was recently on my way home on a 11 hour drive. The last 20 minutes I stopped, turn car off, and got something to drink. Cranked her up no issue but around 5th gear I noticed a bogged/flooded sound while exiting the ramp onto the interstate and the check engine light came on. I pulled over and she was about to die.. idling rough and barely running. Being 20 minutes from home I pushed on with no issue. She sounds extremely flooded with a tapping on the driver side. Code is P0306 vacuum issue. I don't want to take this to a dealership as I think they just add on extra issues that dont need to be fixed. I would like to fix it myself.

I'm thinking its a stuck lifter and I can add a short video with the sound if needed.

My question : if this is a stuck lifter can it be fixed from the top side or does it need to be taken apart to be fixed? Any thoughts or experience with this issue is welcome.

P0306 is a misfire code on cyl 6. Cylinder 6 will be on bank 2 (drivers side), second cylinder back.

Code P0306 is a cylinder 6 misfire code, most common problem for that code would be an ignition concern. I would recommend replacing cylinder 6 coil and spark plug. Have you ever had the spark plugs replaced? If not replace the other plugs while your at it.

Might also be a cracked intake manifold. They're known for that issue, and it throws a misfire code.

If you haven't replaced the plugs, that's where you should start.

With the accrued mileage, check compression too not only on 6, but all cylinders.

Awesome and I hope that this is the issue, I have never replaced either so I will be doing that asap. You think that the lack of firing it what's causing the tapping as well?

Do us all a favor please;

Do follow up on this thread. We're left with a lot of people posing issues, and never getting back to us with the end results.

Please and thank you.

Isn't there a mileage at which spark plugs should be replaced?

Easiest way to check compression?
I doubt compression is an issue at only 115k miles. But it's still possible. Check your oil and coolant and make sure they haven't made a milkshake.

If you really want to check your compression levels on each cylinder, you need a compression tester gauge kit and you'll need to take your spark plugs out and thread the compression tester gauge into each spark plug hole. Make sure the engine has been warmed up, but let it cool down a little if it feels too hot to the touch or burns you. You also have to disable fuel and ignition before trying to crank because you don't want the engine to actually start, you just want it to crank and crank and crank for a few seconds.

The code you have could signal: bad spark plug, bad spark plug boot, bad coil pack, or bad injector on that cylinder.

Every 100k miles or so.

With the greatest of respect you should get a proper diagnosis first. You could throw a lot of parts at it with no success by just guessing and get nowhere. Even if you don't want to go to a Ford dealer there must be plenty of independent specialists around who could help you. You may have internal engine damage after something has failed so it needs a proper check.

If you don't mind wrenching a little you could swap the #6 coil with another coil. If the problem is solid and the coil is at fault the problem should follow the bad coil and it will throw a different fault code. Those coils aren't cheap...
