I wonder if the internal contents of the 45W ballast will fit in the OEM 25W shell?

I read a post earlier about someone putting the 35W ballast inside the 25W caseing....

The OEM 25w housing is exactly the same as the D3S housing. So for that you can easily swap the internal components.

For the 45w housing, I found 2 differents models, one exactly the same as the D8S and the D3S and the other has only 3 mounting lugs instead of 4 to fit the mustang headlights. But on both the internal components seem to be same...

Having done some research I'm pretty confident the 45W internals will fit inside the OEM case.

The only fear I had with 45W was doing damage to the internal lens through the extra heat, but I'm keen to give it a go.

Problem is now, the only suppliers for the 45W ballast I can find are theretrofitsource who want $500, or what seem to be counterfeit sites on ebay:

Yes, that's what I also found. Theretrofitsource or some other counterfeit stuff from ebay or aliexpress or other websites like this ...

So don't know where we can find this part and at a trusted website ...

And from the bulbs side, no problem to use 35w bulbs with a 45w ballast ?

Yeah I think the 45W ballast is a souped up version of the same 35W version, so I think the intention is to use the 35W bulbs and overdrive them.

I found another supplier however minimum order quantity is 40. Not confident about getting that many people together for a group buy!

Wow, indeed, it's a huge quantity to buy and really don't know if you can find as much people that are ready to do this...

John577 - how much do you think you'd pay for a pair of 45W ballast if I could get hold of some? I am considering buying 40 of the things!

I know its old but did anyone get a solution? A few of us are trying 35w D8S 5000k bulbs - was there a reason you avoided doing these?

It's been a while since I've considered this, but my recollection is that doing this will just run a 35W bulb at 25W (as that's all the EU ballast can supply)

Hmmm I know theres a thread when some of the guys are using a 5000k 35w bulb and say it's much brighter. I wish we just got the same mustang they got in the states sometimes! Seeking out and swapping a ballast seems a bit of a faff
