I say you got your money’s worth out of that motor. Did you ever get that 8 sec pass?

I am sure you knew you were on borrowed time so should have had plenty of time to save up for new motor (or build a spare . Lol)

I vote , you just throw in another stock block (may be a Gen 3) .....with the OPG upgrade this time .

Good time to upgrade the valve springs if you heads survived and you won’t even have to worry about lifting heads since you will be able to use the longer 12 mm head studs with the Gen 3 block .

You could even turn down the boost with the higher compression motor and get that 8 second pass( if you did not already get it ).

No 8 but in the recent months it has ran about 10 9.1 & 9.2 passes. Was waiting on better weather and more 60 ft tuning but is what it is! And I'm staying as far away from gen3 as I can.

How many miles on the car? Do you think the motor is fine since you turned it off quickly I am assuming or is there no hope?

I'd be happy to get 3 years out of a high Hp, low et car no matter what the failure point is, lol. 3 years is a long ass time in the race world. Between bearing and ring failures, his failure is just Car God Luck. Any argument either way for or against OPG's is going to be whimsical.

If you push your car, do as much as you think you should do.

Sorry to hear OP. A lot like 3V rods, some lasted some went kablooie fast when leaned on.

9.1 sec passes probably pushing 900-1000+ rwhp? What was your shift point and rev limiter?

She had a good run, I'd be tempted to put in a new stock Gen 2 with OPG + CS. Doing a full motor build will be very spendy...

I was one of the first here about 3 years ago to loose my motor to OPG failure, and like you it was top of 4th when the dreaded bing bing bing was heard. I blame part of my failure to aftermarket balancer. Did you have stock balancer on?

He absolutely got his money's worth. At his power level it could have been the pistons, the OPG, or the rods to let go.

"do it right the first time" LMAO............ what a ridiculous comment.

Congrats OP! I'd say you got your moneys worth out of those terrible, worthless, pot-metal oil pump gears.

Good to hear - thats kinda what I expected and glad i didnt do the OPG. Not worth it to me to break open a brand new motor. I know im taking a gamble but once IM running low9's ill expect it. 10's in an Auto I'll roll the dice like you did.
