I'm more familiar with cam in block engines and that's what I've worked on before. I would assume valve timing would be similar. Usually exhaust valve on those engines from what I remember is farther away from the piston than the intake valve tends to be.I'm hardly an expert, but I thought I understood the piston to be closest to the valves just before and just after TDC of the exhaust stroke, hence the use of valve pocketing on the cylinders of the higher compression engines. I've read valve to piston clearance will usually be about 0.080" to 0.100" during that phase?
Here's a 5.2 block custom build, mentioning checking piston to valve clearance while setting the timing of the cams:

And Shaun from AED talking about avoiding valve strike when changing the timing on the older gen GT coyote's:

Yep, because as that valve is still open, that piston is saying "yo homie, I'm headed back up!"Extending duration (depending on cam timing) is where you can really get into trouble with PTV clearance.
I've been asking that question for a while now. Well, I guess we have an answer, lolIt was more of a "WHEN WILL IT STOP?"
Figured, o well.
ya, I’m concerned about that $35k lump in there I so often rev to 8250 rpm is the issue though...
How much?FWIW, I just had my engine replaced under warranty. The service rep showed me the bill to Ford and I can assure you, you don't want to do anything that will void that warranty!

Well the blower itself, the plumbing, the heat exchanger, the intercooler, the additional coolant tank, the hardware and brackets, the pullies, and the fluilds. It adds up fast.Blowers weigh 150lbs all in? wow.
OH POST THAT UP!! redact as needed, but post it up!FWIW, I just had my engine replaced under warranty. The service rep showed me the bill to Ford and I can assure you, you don't want to do anything that will void that warranty!

Kev, I talked to L&M about this. They have advised against doing intake side only with the Voodoo. Won't hurt anything but apparently leaves a lot on the table although if you talk to Mike I'm sure they can figure something out because so much of their stuff is custom anyway. Let me know if you find anything else out. I haven't had a conversation in a while.Anyone aware if these are sold as intake only?
Including labor, the bill rang out to $30k for my motor.I've seen three guys post engine replacement invoices of $27,000-28,000+ and one was $30,000. Not chump change!
