The article list the gen 3 making 460hp at 6500rpm. I'm pretty sure 460 is at 7000rpm? Correct me if I'm wrong here. Thanks for the link op! Good way to kill ten minutes while I sit here bored at work...

Yeah, hard to believe a gen3 5.0 n/a engine on the corn is making similar peak power numbers as my 03 supercharged Terminator with 2.8 pulley/tune/k&n fipk. 450-460 whp. Crazy times!

Fantastic article.

The GT500 is port injected though.

Good read, but in the Predator section they mention that the heads are CNC'd GT350 heads. IIRC, the GT350 heads have CNC'd ports and chambers....

Minor nits for an informative article.

Everyone knows the original is always better than the sequel!

Just a playful joke for anyone who can't tell!

I had a first gen (2011 GT) - took it to 190K miles and sold the car and it was putting down 390+ whp on a tune alone with all those miles. Did burn a lot of oil however.

I just ordered an E85 tune from AED for my 19 - good stuff.

Anyone think a gen4 is possible for the coyote. The coyotes come such a long way but personally Iā€™m not sure a gen4 will happen. Not because ford canā€™t squeeze out more horsepower but I think the next steps are to finish perfecting the gen3 and start adding electric motors for extra power and move all the mustangs to DCT of course with manual still being available.

Gen 3 Coyote is a phenomenal engine-it is the main reason (the other being the styling and the A10) Iā€™m in an ā€˜18 GT.

Is there another naturally aspirated engine making more hp per liter (not counting voodoo) that isnā€™t in an exotic (I.e Lamborghini Ferrari, Porsche, etc.)?
Agreed! So glad to see a resurgence of America muscle. I remember people talking about the 69/70 Boss and Z28 302ā€™s being so radical @ 290 hp. With appropriate mods carb/intake/cam/exhaust they were spinning those old timers up to 8000 plus rpms back them. A v8 at 7500 plus rpms is plane spine tingling even too the uninitiated. Good times 4 sure. ;).

I remember you over at svtperf. I had 2 03 Cobras - one with a KB that put down 600 rwhp until it blew up. Cool cars but I hated the torture chamber ergonomics.
