I have an observation about super charging these engines. Upon the introduction of the GT500 in 2007, it had 500 HP from it's 5.4 engine. In some following MY's the HP ratings increased. The 5.4 got to 540 in 2012 and then jumped to 662 with the 5.8 liter engine. The GT350 started at 526 HP in 2015 and it has remained the same through 2020. I got to thinking that maybe this 5.2 was pretty much at the end of it's limit when the Ford engineers introduced it in 2015. It leads me to question how reliable and strong will the 5.2 be if you add significant HP to it. I'm certainly not an engine expert, but it's something I've pondered and makes me a little apprehensive about pushing additional HP on this engine.

90% of my Gt350's life has been spent above 800RWHP, 12,000 supercharged miles now and 2.5 years under boost. Still on stock OPG's, and whipple tuning, zero issues.... The Voodoo is extremely capable.

not the 19. the 19+ motor has the gt500 block and many other upgrades, theres info here about that.

i think if you want to boost a gt350, the best option should be a 19+
You don't know those upgrades will make it better for boost

Ford released that the upgrades have allowed the GT350 test mules to hold a sustained 12psi.


Confirmed Changes

Overall
  • The Gen 2 5.2 can withstand 12 psi of sustained boost (Confirmed by article)
  • Romeo Niche Line engines are now only built by a single builder (Evidenced by 2019 Build Plates

When it comes to boost you have to look at the weakest link. The weakest link as far as I have read on the GT350 was not the block so improving the block does not make the care any most boostable.

For example on old my car the block is good for a 800 whp, the rods were only good for 500whp. So a upgraded block would not make the car more boost friendly.

Ford made a bunch of changes for 2019, so will be performance improvements, some will be cost saving measures, and some will probably be down grades to reduce warranty claims.

All correct, but there are a lot of us now that have been boosting these things for years now without issues. They seem to favor the Whipple and the turbochargers. My car now has 14,000 miles on it and has had the Whipple on since the odometer read 2000ish. Those that I know of who have broken rotating parts are usually pushing them upwards of 950rwhp.

What rotating parts were upgraded?
None, outside of the intake manifold (supercharger) and headers my engine is factory stock. 790rwhp to 835rwhp depending on the Dyno at 9psi on 93 octane. It may make more on MS109 but it’s been awhile since it’s been on a Dyno

Has anyone had any issues with the Procharger setup? I'm getting one installed in a few weeks. I've read on here that folks who had them were doing well. Not looking to push her too hard with it, just some spirited highway driving.

^^^ I've had a D1x installed with a Lund tune for about 500 miles now, I know not long but the car has been great so far and alot of fun to drive. I did boundary opg and dont get into it at all until up to operating temp. Others on here have been procharged longer with good results. Enjoy

Finally ....RPG rebuilt sleeved Voodoo with upgraded springs arrived.

A little late for any drag racing but in time for the cool fall air .
Old motor (OPG and CS only ) had Gen 3 whipple /3.5 pulley when a rod bent .

Not sure why, butbwas missing before and
I suspect bad 02 sensors from leaded gas may have played a role . He also found some evidence of head lift . Now has ARP head studs of course .

I am going to pulley down eventually to at least a 3.25 pulley with the new motor .

Yes, they have their own cooling separate from the engine. You install a heat exchanger (radiator) and tank behind the front bumper along with an optional Spal fan upgrade. I wouldnt call the Gen 5 a game changer, but its more efficient than the last model for sure. They flipped it and the rotor housing is at the bottom and cooling on top. The Gen 4 was released last month, and is basically the last upgrade for the previous design. I picked that one up not knowing when the Gen 5 was going to be released, I definitely didnt know it was going to be this soon. I would have waited for the latest design, but im still very happy and excited with the Gen 4 :inlove:



It looks like you still lose your strut bar, but will not need to lower the engine. Honestly though, the lowering of the engine wasnt much at all. It sounds frightening, but switching out the motor mounts was fairly easy tbh, I wouldnt hesitate to do it again if needed. I didnt even notice that it lowered it, to the naked eye I cant even tell :inspect:
Just did install of Gen 5...Whipple still needs the BMR motor mount lowering system

@Paperdude2016 Did you have to remove the strut bar/brace? how's the performance at the road course? Has anyone done 1 PSI, 2 PSI, 3 PSI, 4 PSI, 5 PSI pulls? I'd be interested in 2 PSI. I really just want to be in the 650hp range.

Just did install of Gen 5...Whipple still needs the BMR motor mount lowering system
The Whipple Gen5 kit didn't come with the lowering mounts? Or you just haven't installed them?
