Unfortunately, Jack (orange Miata) is out for this drive. Harold (maroon C5) knows the roads well, and might go. If not, we will have to see who has the pole.

I just have to ask, are you guys all retired or are you just taking PTO for the day to run the mountains?

It's about half and half, either retired, or work for ourselves from home.

Gotcha. Unfortunately still have C level execs to report to so even a day off isn't always a day off at my level.

The sport exhaust selection is good for me.

I've been gathering together parts for future maintenance. I also just torqued the wheels for the first time (150 #'s). A couple were loose.

I am still getting accustomed to the electric steering. The hard setting is the best in the mountains.

Looks like we will have four of us going tomorrow. We are meeting at the Walmart Super Center in Dahlonega at 10:30. Next time we can definitely look at Friday.

One of the guys dropped out due to a tummy ache. The other one would rather work than go driving in the mountains in sporty cars. Go figure.

We had some nice clear sections which were fun. I am getting comfortable with the steering and weight transfer. We talked about Dave's car in Car and Driver magazine (he says it wan't his car but one like his car).

:cwl:

What's worse is he let me know yesterday morning. I think it's because I told him he had the pole this time.

Had a great time. Dueling GT350's make for an awesome song. Next time we have to go up US19/129 instead of down. It's passing lane for the most part, or we could continue up 60 out of Suches to Blue Ridge, eat lunch, and head back down.

Tom,
I say both.
1) I'd go north on Hwy 129 and turn right on Hwy 180 past Brasstown Bald mtn (it's Jack's Gap) and turn right on (south) on Hwy 75. We will hit Unicol Gap and go down. We turn around at the other side of Hwy 75 before driving into Helen, GA. We back track our previous route.

It has great smooth road both ways.

2) We can also keep north from Suches on Hwy 60. towards Blue Ridge. It's 15 miles of tight left and right turns. We then turn around at the end of Hwy 60 and go back the same way. We turn left at the gas station and go to Wolfpen Gap (like today). Wolfpen is a tight road and especially difficult for a S550 Mustang.

We also need to hit the Tail of the Dragon soon. We will drive north on the same Hwy 129 to the area after a session here .We will stay at a local motel and hit it at first dawn maybe 6 times? We move back south by breakfast time?

Great time guys... I'm in for additional runs as well as the Tail.
When I was following Bill, every once in a while, our exhaust under load would start to sing as a pair... What a beautiful exhaust note when the harmonics sync,d up.
I may try to bring several Go-Pros next time.
My dash cam did not capture any of the time in the curves due to the amount of time it took to get back. I should have selected the manual record mode in the twisties... my bad!!!

Dave,
You told me that your only previous track experience was the go-cart track at Talladega. You are very fast for one go-cart track session. You were smooth hitting the apexes and driving out of a turn equally as well. I suspect some miss-information.about your experience.;)

Tom was also good but he admits to having a racing license.

I got it done in HSR for 25 years.

Doc:
I wanted to go quite a bit faster.... I'll explain later.
My seat of the pants meter has been calibrated from prior requirements.

This is my friend Jeff who is a different class and group than me.

The picture shows what a lot of engine torque will do coming up the hill after T10b at Road Atlanta.

It is a bad-ass car and not easy to control with two tires in the air.

Tom's car drives like this.on the street.
