Hidden trunk latch, am I the only one that didn't know?

Accidentally hit this while waxing Shelby today and my trunk popped open. Nice feature as I have officially become too lazy to pull my keys out of my pocket.

LOL - I love that you are self-deprecating enough to post this up, picture and everything!

My '08 Audi has this same button, so I just kind of expected it to be there, and it was! What is much more cool is the feature that many SUV's have where you can wave your foot under the back of the car and the trunk pops open (linked of course to the proximity sensor in your key).

For the record I never knew the notchy part of the door handles was the proximity lock/unlock until I got my Jeep, which has embossed buttons in the handles for the proximity lock/unlock. I thought hey I wonder if those notches are for that...

My sister-in-law has a 17 Eco. She walked me out to her car right after she bought it and asked what the hell good it does to have the intelligent entry and push-button start, if she has to dig the key out of her purse to lock the car. I grabbed her finger and touched it to the textured part of the door handle. Ooohhhhhh!

If I ever saw a woman sit down and read a manual (a ritual with me when I buy a car), I think I'd drop dead of a heart attack. My sister, and sister-in-law both prefer the learn-as-you-go method.

I came from a S197 which didn't have an external trunk release, so I just assumed the S550 didn't either. Saw the button when it was up on the lift doing my resonator delete and was pleasantly surprised.

Mine did. Little piece that clipped into the passenger side visor. My mom's 2010 didn't have the sunglass clip but she did have the visor mirror covers that were shaped like the hood.
