Read the online version @ https://www.caranddriver.com/review...d-mustang-shelby-gt350-vs-porsche-718-cayman/

Just got my Oct 2019 issue of Car & Driver in the mail today. They compare a 2019 GT350, 2019 M2 Competition, 2018 718 Cayman, and 2020 Supra Launch Edition. It was a fun read. I've scanned the entire article below. If this is not appropriate to do, Mods please feel free to delete the thread. Anyway, I won't play spoiler so check it out...

1.08g on the skidpad? Holy smokes. When I was growing up, the E46 M3 was my dream car(no longer), and at the time it was touted as handled like it was on rails. The slalom on that was .87g. I think the GT350 is officially a sports car now with the cars it's constantly pitted up against.

It’s impressive that the 350 is still winning tests into its 5th model year. All these cars in this test are interesting to me, it’s nice to know we still have the best one.

Thanks lightrules...!!!!!!!
As one could imagine, I was VERY interested in this write-up.
I am going to have to buy the hard copy.
The Shelby and the Cayman are world's apart. I have the privilege of getting out of one, and directly into the other.
To the seat of the pants meter, the Porsche feels quicker and the handling is more refined. The Shelby's stopping fells slightly better; that might be due to the fact that there is considerably more momentum to change.
The deal breaker is the audible pleasure that is delivered from the Flat Planed Crank... especially with the resonators removed.

Interesting I was considering the m2 or the supra as my next car if I was going to DD it. If I remove the categories I do not care about the supra wins..

Im curious how the M2 Comp became so bad they raved about the M2 when it came out.

the supra seems like a decent performer and probably a very nice driving car. but man, i cannot get over its putrid looks. that rear end is so ugly i honestly get angry looking at it. to me it looks like an alien mated with a miata.

I like the way it looks to be honest. I also like the size.

My friend has an M2 Comp and my brother has an M240i. Both are great cars and make great daily's. I love my R to death, but it's not a daily driver. If I could only have one car and it also had to be my daily, the M2 Comp would be perfect.

i daily my 350, i think its great. the 1/4 mile racing seems like a negligible stat for these cars. Id like to see some 20-100, 40-100 or something as that seems more prevalent on a track. I mean also everyone loves a NA v8 singing to 8000+ RPM ive never meet a person who didnt appreciate the car.

Life is too short to only own one car......
I am looking to add the GT350 to my stable next year, unfortunately still undecided if "R" or "non-R".....

That was why I initially purchased a non-R GT350. I didn't want to spend the money for an R, and I felt the R was less practical as a daily driver. I also didn't want to spend $60k for something that I wouldn't use a lot.

I think the regular GT350 makes an awesome daily driver.

I drove a 718 recently and I have to agree, what a chassis.......until you feel that motor and realize what a let down it is. Completely ruins the entire car. Truly an abomination.

I was just thinking of this, and I agree :) If I was to have only one car, I would probably choose the M2 competition.

If under strict budget, I would buy the older E92 M3 coupe.

Ive heard the E92 M3 motor runs out of gas up top making the car feel slow.
