I'm curious if there is any power gains on a stock tune with using 98 octane at track events over 93 octane.

Thanks in advance for your input!!!

I don't know if it's been dynoed and measured but I can definitely feel a difference on the straights when I put 100 octane in my bone stock GT350. I normally run 91 octane though so it's a bigger difference than 93-98.

Do your logs show any difference?

Not enough to prove that it was the higher octane that made me faster. My skills aren't consistent enough to show it based off of lap time alone. I could probably look at the top speed on the straights and see if there is a difference but I haven't been on track in months so I wouldn't remember which run was on what fuel. I'll try to take a look next time I'm out. I usually run a session or two on 91, then fill with 100 for the next 2, then back to 91 because that shit is expensive!

But I can say for sure that the car pulls harder on 100 octane. You can feel it. No tangible proof though.

Some people have claimed that the car does start to give timing. But honestly without a tune telling the spark tables what to specifically do with all that octane, it's really not worth nickel and diming over. Get a real tune or E85 tune it.

Knock sensors are monitored by the pcm and advance the ignition when a higher octane is used. So yes, horsepower does increase.

what's the consensus on octane boosters such as lucas, turbo 108, royal purple max boost, boostane, and torco? seems like products with MMT tend to work fairly well. anyone using these products in their shelby?

one reason i ask is, being in CA, we get 91 octane only at most stations. thinking to supplement once in a while with above products.

From what I remember reading in the GT350 supplement/manual, it clearly states not to use additives with MMT. See page 23 of the supplement in reference to fuels.

I recently started running MS100 in my 350. It definitely feels different with this octane. I reached out to VP Racing Fuels a while back and they suggested running MS103 in the GT350. I have also read somewhere on this forum a fellow GT350 owner stated he talked with a VP Rep who suggested the same.

Read the GT350 supplement/manual on page 23 in reference to fuel. Should answer some of your questions. Enjoy.

On a stock tune 94-95 octane is probably the limit as once the ECU hits maximum timing tables anything above that is just money not well spent. The issue is even with 93 octane there could be some light knock and the car will start pulling timing especially on a hot day.

What very, very little I know about fuels and such, this is where the benefit of 100 would come into play; on those hot days.

I always used Toluene to raise octane.

I'm in California so 91 is typically the best you find
however luckily there is a station about 10 min from me that has 100 at the pump
based on the tables maxing at 93 I will mix it to get about 95. This makes me feel better with a couple points margin for pinging and the hot weather around here.
I'm not religious about the mix either. If a couple of tanks are just normal 91 that's ok. With the 100 at the pump being $9.95/gal I only do it because all my gas is on the company card.
(with our "normal" SoCal prices in the $4.50 range it really only equates to 25% more $ per fill up)

More then " increase power" you will use the WHOLE power u have.
If in Cali 91 is max and the car underpower.
As previous mentioned
Car adjust automatically timing. But not till 100oct.
94-95 is the max.

Fyi
On dyno with tune :
18pp1 10speed
91oct stock 414
91oct stock with borla 428
91borla and tune. 439
96 borla and tune. 452.
