Too funny, Jeff. I did the same thing..bought the wife a '16 maroon Caddy and then a Ruby Red '18 KR F250 por moi. I already had a Race Red/White '14 GT500 so they'll all be "red" of one shade or another. :-)

I contacted Noah at Ford Performance today and my 10/21 build week is unchanged. He also alluded to having a build date in about a week.

Thanks for that info, Tim. I too am a ten twenty-oner, (hiding face with jacket, ;-) as well and luckily I got the same word...no change but I didn't know about the "build dates in a week." I like the heck out of that.

I took my two salesmen out to lunch today to show my appreciation for being so Johnny on the spot regarding the order. But, I forgot to ask Allocation what that date was they gave me a week ago which FP knew nothing about. The Allocation guy said it was a build date but it was the week before and I don't think he got the full story. No matter. I'll feel quite a bit more relaxed with an official and verified build date.

Definitely not a commuter car.

This should explain the Gas Guzzler Tax.
Earl: If my math is correct, then one is spending approximately $160/mo for the privilege of horsepower. I can live with that. :-) Besides, the comparison is undoubtedly foolish because we aren't buying an Ecoboost Fusion or whatever vehicle is at the top of the gas mileage charts. But, as D said, it's probably not the best choice for a daily driver IF you care about gas mileage.

Update on my order: Called Noah @ FP little while ago and my previous scheduled week of 10/21 has been pushed back and now have a build date of 11/1.. And according to Noah this is also the day it is complete, so he mentioned I "could" see it before the 15th of the month we shall see. I assume they will have things moving fast just prior to the winter holiday breaks.

For you to receive your GT500 by mid November with a build date of November 1st is very optimistic based on my experience with the FRAP.

Of course it will not be so much of a delay with the assembly plant themselves as it will be with the coordination with the logistics and transportation carriers.

Even with a short haul move and if your car moves strictly OTR that window is extremely aggressive.

Having said all that I hope that your car meets that delivery timeline and looking forward to seeing and hearing more about your new cool GT500!!!

Was 10/21 your original build week? Or have you been "rescheduled" more than once? Oh, and congrats on having a build day!

My 2013 GT500 was:
Released from Plant on 01-14-2013
Received - B16 (Autoport Limited) on 01-14-2013
Shipped by Rail on 01-16-2013
Arrived by Rail on 01-24-2013 (Mira Loma, CA)
Final Delivery by Truck to Dealer on 01-26-2013.
13 days from Released to Final Delivery in Central CA.

This was not a typical delivery, I was pretty proactive and called Autoport Limited (the shipping agents at Flat Rock) and let them know about my car sitting out in the cold. They checked their records and noticed that the had just received the car and they managed to get it on a rail car and 2 days later it was moving down the tracks. When it got to Mira Loma, CA, I called the trucking company and they were able to get it on a trailer and deliver it on 01-26-2013. I lucked out on the truck, they had a trailer that was going to my dealer and it had an open space.

The truck driver even sent me a picture of my car on the trailer.

Snoopy, is that typical? I would think Ford would be good with shipping logistics? Seems like you did the work for them.

It is not typical, as far as logistics, Ford turns the cars over to a shipping company and they decide the best way to get the car to it's destination. I just nudged the shipper and the trucking company. The Goodyear tires on the GT500 had problems with cracking in cold weather and some of the buyers were having problems with the tires, and there were a lot of complaints about cars sitting on the lot for weeks in the cold weather before getting shipped out. I just did what I could.
