17 gt350 priced at 40k with 8k miles. The car was a buyback by ford. It comes with 12month bumper to bumper warranty. Is it ok to buy. any thoughts.
Thanks

Warranty doesn't seem long enough. If it came with 5 years maybe.

Iā€™d find out what caused the buyback first....

If the car was a buyback Ford would have had to make the proper repairs and most likely the car is fine.

Like stated above the dealer should have no problem stating what was wrong. Or you can get an oasis report from Ford. If the dealer bought it from Ford you will have to sign off on the buyback letter and it will state what was wrong. I imagine this is the case with the 12 month warranty. I am a buyer for a dealer and as long as it is mfg performed work and you get a good deal I would not turn away from the car. Just my .02

Iā€™d not buy it if they wonā€™t disclose what caused the buyback and how it was fixed. If itā€™s all good, perhaps... but know that if and when you go to sell or trade it....it will trigger flags from buyers and if you say, I donā€™t know....you are stuck.

12 months is not enough I would see if they can go to 40,000 flat and do 3/36,000

Weird, usually the buyback cars are CPO.

Can you still get ESP on a buy back? If so I'd factor in 2k for the ESP and jump on it if that still makes it a "deal".

The report of what was wrong and what was done to correct the problem that caused the buyback is required information for the seller to have.

Edited:
A Ford RAV Buy Back on any Ford comes with only a 12/12k warranty to the initial buyer after the Buy Back. If the Lemonā€™d Ford had any remaining 3/36, the buyer only gets the benefits of that remaining 3/36.

The Ford Dealer cannot offer any other warranty, as that RAV 12/12 is mandatory by Ford Corporate. The selling Dealer must disclose the vehicle was a prior Buy Back and the B-pillar on driver side will have a Ford Buy Back disclaimer.

Iā€™m not sure if the OP can even get a Ford ESP on it, because once itā€™s a RAV Buy Back the VIN is flagged as a Lemon. The OP might be able to source another external warranty company, but again the VIN is flagged as a Lemon (title is too).

OASIS will show the VIN as flagged and that it only has a 12/12 on it (and any remainder of the 3/36). It will also show any prior repair history (warranty or other repairs) only IF the vehicle was always serviced at Ford.

Folks have purchased recycled Lemons before, but only if not concerned about future resale OR trade in value. Both private and retail buyers shy away from any high end vehicles with title issues (lemon branding).

Whatā€™s the VIN?
