The 10R80 in the ZL1 Camaro is not the same internally as the coyote. It's been beefed up. Like to get a hold of one of those.

They seem to hold well (10L90 per GM’s code). We have had troubles with them holding 7th gear when making over 800wtq (unless a PC car where it doesn’t hit as hard so low). Raybestos is finally offering clutches for them which seem to do the trick. Would like to compare the two side by side though

Interestingly enough, there are no bands in the 10R80, strictly clutches. The transmission is like one of those dolls in a doll in a doll... but it’s just clutches and steels. Seems complicated with all the different clutches but very simple operation (in theory)
That's good to know since I have never been a fan of bands, I prefer a beefy clutch pack!

The Ford 10R80 and GM 10L90 is a collaborative effort and both use the same hardware... the software parameters are different.

I posted this very informative thread about the 10R80 and the 10L90 back in August 2018:

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/10r80-and-gm-equivalent-10l90-good-reading.107942/

For those who want an excellent schooling of the 10R80 and 10L90 - it’s all there.

When I did my 10R80 there was a huge difference between the stock frictions and the Raybestos ones, in regards to the actual friction material used.

Surviving it temporarily is cool but if it holds for a period of time, that is what I think is most relevant. Neat though overall! Curious where/what fails when it does, might help guide rebuilders for upgrades of most relevance once this built one dies.
I don't think any car is going to survive on 1400hp for long. Engine, transmission, and rear axle are going to be short-lived.

Thinking about that car, you wouldn't be able to put down all 1400hp in any gear on street tires. That would be a code brown moment in top gear and have the tires break loose at 80+mph

Well most of us that are 1000whp plus never take the car out on street tires. Mine is always on DOT approved street radials. I hook up just fine 80+.

I've also been in one of the fastest 10r80 cars out there and it dead hooks every time from a roll on the street and has been way faster than this "1433whp" car has ever gone.

Tires on the 1000whp cars that dead hook?

I'm on aired down 325 series R888R's and can't hook worth shit below 50mph.

That's your problem right there. It is not about how wide the tire is. I'm also assuming you're probably on a 19 or 20" wheel.

The tires we run are the Mickey Thompson ET street R on a 17" wheel. I've run both the 305/45/17 and the 315/50/17 and both hook up just fine. On the S197's I have plenty of buddies running 15" wheels with only a 275 and make well more power than I do. With no problems hooking up as well.

Look up Limitless Performance and fabrication on facebook/instagram or youtube to see the car.
It ran 8.3x at over 165mph i nthe 1/4mile. Its 1/8th mile time i believe was a 5.3 at 135+.

This car that makes 1400+ ran at the track recently and only ran 6.2 at 122 in the 1/8th if I'm not mistaken. I remember it was a low 6 sec pass and low 120's.
Which is slower than my stock motor car.....

My car makes over 900 whp and I also run the MT ET STREET R full time at 16 psi. Depending on ambient temps I can haze the tires at 60 + mph, but once they get heat into them it will dead hook from 3rd gear 10R80 car.

Well, yeah.

Do you know of any transmission in the history of the automobile that can take 1500 hp stock?
Yes, Lamborghini Gallardo. Our stock transmissions (e-gear or manual) handle 1400-1500whp, upgraded single disc clutch of course, but completely stock trans case and internals.
