I added enough boostane to get it to 97 octane and the tune didn’t like it. First, I didn’t notice and difference and second, it would hesitate starting after driving a bit and then shutting it off. After talking to Roush agent he said he didn’t believe their tune would not adjust timing for it. But you are correct on a stock Ford tune. It will adjust to 97 which is why I mixed to 97. In the end their disclaimer is enough to reject a warranty claim so since I didn’t see a benefit I stopped suing it.
Wonder if MS109 would've worked better, maybe 1 gallon to 9 of 93

I don't know anything about boostane. However, I have had tunes on different Ecoboost vehicles and the tuners I used said never use octane boosters because they contain a chemical that destroy spark plugs and catalytic converters. They did, however, highly recommend adding enough unleaded race fuel to increase octane a few points.

It is not just about increasing timing. It is to prevent detonation and/or reduce the amount of timing pulled. Note that Roush says not to use octane boosters but they do say use 91 OR HIGHER. They do not specify an octane limit. There is a point where too high an octane could be counter productive but I would be comfortable with 94-96 using a race fuel mix.

Hey guys, just received the new updated/larger LTR/HE from Roush. Thought I'd share a couple pics. Also to those that have warrantied the old HE for the new one, did you pay for the install or did Roush cover the install?

Did you get this free of charge? I called Roush on Friday about new tune, throttle body and HE and they said new tune and TB are for cars with certain issues and the HE could had for a charge.
Sucks because I just bought the whipple oversize and ordered the brackets for 120! That looks about the same size as the whipple.

VMP tunes for octane using boostane on their Roush's judging from their videos. The Demon's have a stock 100 octane tune and there are videos with them dynoing their cars on 100 octane race fuel versus 93 octane plus Boostane (to a 100 octane) and the results are better with 93 plus Boostane. I'm thinking it's the tune. Go out and look at demonology. Kind of fascinating.

Screw the additive, I would just try sim MS109 unleaded fuel

Just a splash added to 93

Maybe but the Demon guys have proven the additive is better in et times and hp on the dyno. At least with the demon 100 octane tune that is

Bet it’s because they blended better, if u blend the Ms109 correctly to say 95-96 octane I bet it would be great

Looks like the new LTR is much thicker

I’m curious as to when roush is releasing their stage 2 kit

From the video I saw it was pure 100 octane race fuel taken from drums vs 93 and boostane taking it to 100 octane. Saves a shit ton of money that's for sure.

If it's anything like the last stage 2, they won't have a warranty...

That's most likely true and it' was an add on.

I had no issues with my car on the Lund tune. I was also able to get all non-powertrain related warranty issues taken car of while tuned. If you are looking for power beyond the Roush phase 1, I would honestly go aftermarket.
