So I've had my car for about 5 months now and I've tried explaining to myself in every way possible what the low temp, "tip-in" rattle could be but none of it is keeping my worrying mind at bay... everytime I search about it I get a bunch of stuff about the type writer tick which is not a rattle by any means. (And which my car now at 2500 does not have) can anyone help shed some light for me?

Yes. There’s nothing that makes it go away. If it makes you feel better go to the dealer and have it documented, then floor it every chance you get.

The rattle might be the aluminum transmission spacer plate located between the trans bell housing and back of engine. This has been a known source of some “rattle”. Ford also put out a TSB for the same noise concern and area for the 5.0 F150’s.

It’s a known source of a metallic-like or raspy-like noise at certain RPM’s. Ford is aware of the issue and for the GT350’s there is even a revised part - but no official TSB has been issued.

You know engines make noises, right?

You know direct injection is really noisy, and the reason for the plastic cover on the engine, right?

You know the vale-train clatters until the oil is warm, right?

If you're worried, post up a video with clear sound, let us take a look at it. The chances that something is wrong is about 1 in 1,000,00

Mine's had the rattle since the beginning, but never the tick (at least until a couple days ago). Just shy of 10K miles, and the tick finally showed up, quite noticeable I must say. I guess that means it's finally broken in now.

Sounds like the 2k rattle. Low rpm and only when light on the gas. I think the consensus is that's the DI fuel pump kicking in. I hear it in my gt and 18,000 miles of abuse later it's still running strong.

If your worried pick up the ESP from Flood Ford and drive on. These things make all kinds of engine noise and the tranny/rear clank around. Trade off for not being a 70k-90k car that BMW and Audi sell...which all have their own issues.

Mine makes all the sounds....still smoked a Camaro this morning. To be fair though, it was a few years older and might have been a 6.

Escue: might be a long shot, but when i crawled under my 19 GT to find the cause of my rattle, it turned out to be the 2 nuts on the pipe clamp on the front of the resonator (“suitcase”). The nuts were barely on and appeared someone at the assembly plant forgot them! Once i tightened them, no more rattle! Hope this is your cure, too.

That's is exactly it, light throttle and right between 1500-2000 rpm. Like if you are just holding rpms before decel. Only happens up till slightly warm then goes away.

You don't need a $70k car to not have rattles.

Before I bought my Mustang, I test drove a 2019 Lexus ES350 F-Sport. Extremely nice car, $44k price point, rattle free and built to last.

If I could have gotten over my addiction to V8 sound, I would have bought that car. Alas, it was not to be.
