Well..I finally bit the bug about a month ago, after a few months of searching and beginning to lose confidence that I wouldn't find a GT350 that fit my eye. However, low and behold, a unicorn popped up on a search that had not been there previously.
A '17, Oxford White w/ Blue Stripes, Recaro's, and Electronics Package. Exactly what I wanted and with only 1,000 miles on the clock. Yup, a '17 with 1,000 miles. At first, I was slightly skeptical, but took her for a spin, felt confident with the private dealer, their relationship with the current owner and knew this was probably the one. Additionally, come to find out, she already possessed a Borla ATAK catback and that sound just tempted me that much more.
When it came time to make an offer, I was interested to see how much flexibility they had with the car. To my surprise, the current owner also had a 350R that he moved earlier in the year and was ready to get out from this one, as well. At that point, I was pretty confident that an offer I made would more than likely be accepted. The car was originally listed at 52k a few months back and then lowered to 50k the same day I ran a new search. Which makes sense as to why I hadn't see it, considering I set a budget of around 50k to hopefully tie in a low mileage '17 or maybe even score an '18 with a new color. But, this was ultimately the exact combo I was looking for. I went ahead and offered the gentleman 48k and this was immediately accepted. At first, I wasn't sure if I shot myself in the foot or what, but at the end of the day, I felt as if it was a very fair deal for both parties and certainly don't mind sharing it with you guys to try and help give potential insight into the market. Alright...now onto a few pics and a few changes I made pretty quickly.
This was the day I picked her up in all her glory.
Decided to get used to her a bit the next day and stretch her legs with a few buddies of mine that wanted to drive down to the Battleship of Texas before they shut her down for renovations.
Drove straight over to Whitehead Motorsports here in Houston the next morning to throw on a catch can, get an oil change and get some quoting on a full detail, ceramic coating (CQuarts Professional), along with throwing on some xPel film for the front bumper, hood, both fenders, mirrors and the rear trunk plastic piece.
This car is going to be a daily driver for me and since I'm on the road pretty often, I wanted to try and protect her as best I could from the get go. During the week long wait on getting the car coated and film laid down, I met a gentleman at the shop whom I had heard had a GT350, as well, and was looking to sell his Flowform HRE's. Once I knew they were Liquid Metal and saw them in person, I was sold and the wheels were put on during the detail process.
Within the short tenure of ownership, the car is essentially exactly the way I want it. A solid catback, a little tint, film, ceramic coating protection and some wheels. I couldn't be happier with the way she has turned out thus far. From my initial impressions, coming from a C6ZR1, I enjoy this car MUCH more. This is my first Mustang/Shelby and it's obviously a completely different platform. While I love vette's, I think I'm here to stay for quite a while.
