108 mm is larger than the GT350 CAI and almost as large as the JLT. Worth a try with a tune for the 108 mm MAF.
I thought the GT350 was 110mm the same size as the JLT ?

Hi All, is it enough to buy the 2018 stock air box and directly fix it on a 2015 GT once bought, or would I need an adapter to make it connect well with the throttle body/intake manifold?

I believe the stock 18 Intake MAF size is 98mm not 108. I have the Roush 2018+ CAI on my 15 car. Its 105mm MAF with insert removed. 98mm with insert in, aka "stock no-tune" configuration for 2018 people. Roush confirmed this over the phone.

Correct. Still a big change from the 2015 at 85 mm.

Indeed. This 108 number has been thrown around on a few posts and thought it helpful to add that. I would expect some gains stock for stock 2015-17 airbox to 2018+. I still favor the idea of having a cone style filter (for the very top end flow), which is why I did what I did but anyway.

Have you compared this to the GT350 intake? I've seen a few places say it's about 108-110mm on the tube and filter so just about the 18GT piece.

The only real downside of the 18GT intake is that it still uses the same size filter as the 15-17, which is has considerably less surface area than the cone style filter of the GT350. I imagine the most restrictive part of the intake is the filter itself, where there is the greatest resistance for air to flow.

I think the GT350 intake is 105mm MAF diameter, same as Roush. I tend to agree on your comment about the cone filter.

So in this case, a few mm difference in tube size while working with a smaller filter I imagine makes these units pretty equal. And the price differential is pretty similar also on these whether from Ford or used on the forums/eBay.

I agree that the GT intake is on par to the GT350 intake, but can't really comment on the "poor man's" part of it. Depends on what deals you can find used if going that route.

Again pretty sure the 18 GT intake is 98mm not 108. Confirmed by Roush. So smaller MAF diameter than the GT350 intake and smaller filter. Based on this, the GT350 should win in terms of top end flow and hp.

For a 15-17 GT I'd get the GT350 CAI or JLT and not look back.

However, 98mm is much larger than the 15-17 GT intake, which I believe is 85mm. Quite a bit of difference there and I would expect some gain in airflow from that.

So does the 2018 stock air intake assembly fit well in the previous years from 15 to 17 I have 2017 GT but just a little worried that the assembly wont fit because of the 2018 bumber facelift so I think the air duct sits a little differently in 2018 and won't fit in a 2017???

It does fit somewhat good. Actually the lid and tube fit perfectly on the 15 air box. The 18 tube only has 2 vacuum ports. So I needed to tap into the tube for all hoses to be connected. Also the tube doesn't come perfectly straight off the throttle body but close enough.

I found this information, mulled it over — and got one today off my local Mustang tuner that a Gen-3 guy presumably left there after getting something aftermarket.

I have a Gen-2 with a Ford Performance Power Pack-1 tune, which naturally ran fine with the stock box and inlet tube — it ran fine with the stock box and AirAid inlet tube. I threw the 18+ Gen-3 intake on at home — started it up — and the car was noticeably trying to figure s#!t out. The smell of gas palpable.

I would blip the throttle and AFRs wouldn't blip for a sec before maintaining stoich (14ish for the 91 tune) — they would hang at 16-to-18 and then gently descend back to 14s. I didn't even try driving it.

If it's flowing that much air — it -must- do something good. But with a proper tune to make the MAF curve happy. In the trunk it stays until then.

I have a complete 2019 GT air filter/maf/throttle body/silencer, if anyone is interested. 100 miles on them.
