I'm not sure how a tune isn't required with it having a larger overall opening. You can't just slap a bullet throttle body on a gt without a tune. 80-88mm is a pretty hefty bump.

As long as the throttle blade opening isn't more than stock, it shouldn't be an issue.
It is stock size at the blade. There is a lot of material from the blade out to the opening that is removed. Plus an additional 4mm on front side of throttle blade itself. No tuning required.

That's what I figured. Same as my Brett barber TB

Looks like he cut a taper in the bore vs boring out the diameter at the plate, which should speed up air flow as it goes in. I don't see why it would compromise the casting except possibly at the very top at the start of taper. Just don't tighten down the intake tube with Popeye arms.

I've seen factory cars with tapered inlet tubes going to the TB, I presume that does the same thing.

Yep, there is no way a worm clamp on an intake tube is going to hurt/crush/break the end of the TB. Fear porn...

1st Joe has been great to work with - I wish all companies treated their customers as well as he does!
2nd I have had issues with the GPE TB running on a PBD 93 tune, with random bouts of bucking/surging in warm, hot and cold conditions (all randomly and with no codes?)
3rd Trevor has made 3 adjustments but has not been able to eliminate the random issue, so we've decided to remove GPE TB and reinstall the stock TB and see if I still get the issue

Thanks for the update. Keep us posted on if the stock TB resolves your issues. I use the exact same tuner and was planning to do this TB and port the stock manifold for the spring but I think I will hold off until after you get yours running good with the TB first.

Will do
I should add that my only modifications are a Borla S cat back and drop in filter for the stock CAI/I did do the battery disconnect and then TB relearn process that came with the ported TB

Morning... Stock TB is running fine with the PBD 93 octane performance tune
Traded some emails with PBD and they said they do not tune specifically for the ported TB but adjust parameters based on the datalogs that I've sent. I am going to reinstall the GPE this weekend and go thru the TB relearn process again and see what happens

Well good luck. I personally have Unleashed E85 tune and car runs better imo with the GPE throttle body. It did not require any tune updates. I unhooked both battery terminals overnight before my install btw. Joe says it may take 50-100 miles for ECU to adjust. I have 1800 miles on new tb.

Wish E85 was available here where I live as I've read good things about it on here. I followed Joe's instructions on installing his TB and have been in regular communication with Joe as well as Trevor at PBD thruout the process. I've not given up just yet as the weather is finally getting a little cooler here in the midsouth and we may finally drop out of the high 90's into the high 70's which should make for some cooler evening "testing" at WOT :like:

Unless it is just a bad tb it should not change or affect driveability. All the porting is done prior too the throttle blade area. Yeah Joe is great. You will get it sorted out. Mine hits hard at wot, yet drives completely normal otherwise.

85mm throttle blade diameter is pushing the limit on OEM cast TB’s.
George at Maxbore knows the absolute maximum bore diameter before compromising casting integrity. I actually think the newer TB’s are limited to about 83.5mm over stock.
I have a Maxbore TB on my '16. Used them in the past on my LS1 (2000 Trans AM) & other mustangs. Nothing but respect. To the OP, the TB looks like a nice piece, cheaper than the BBK offerings & no on wants to deal with the GT350 TB issues. Good on you for helping others.
