Sure until you throw bolt on's onto the GT. Audi does the exact same thing you reference. They allow an A4 for be as fast as a stock S4 with aftermarket tuning and bolt ons. Then they allow the S4 to be actually faster than a RS4 with tune, E85 and other bolt on's. It's great for the Audi aftermarket and used market. People buy those ugly cars up. The GT has a higher ceiling when you start adding in boost, for majority of the market and that's all that matters in the end
Agreed. We need to adjust our V8 thought process. Once you start thinking of the EB and GT as equals for two different groups of people it starts making sense.

I don't disagree with you, but how many guys would go for the v6 eco over the 5.0? It'd be cheaper(I'd hope) and you can have just as much power. Of course the die hard v8 guys will always go 5.0 and guys who want 800whp will want a 5.0, but its a smaller percentage of owners that want/do that, than places like this make it out to be. Also for the enthusiats who want to build something different.

Then throw in mod potential, FBO on an ecoboost wont be more than 2k max and youll easily get 60-75whp over stock, you can't get that kind of gains from bolt ons on a 5.0. Maybe with E85, i guess you can call that bolt on now with the Gen 3 yotes just needing a tune to run it.

Here is the way I would spec out an EB. MSRP of $46,770 fully loaded vs. $44,950 for a base BMW. Sure you can get a GT for $47k but that’s not the point. It’s a different car for a different buyer.

Tuners already have the new explorer st's running stock GT times, lol. Of course that's awd but still.

And whats the difference? Who is the different buyer? Typically the different buyer was someone who didn't need a v8 and didn't want to pay that much. Who is this different buyer now.?

The different buyer is anyone who wants a high performance coupe but who has no interest in American V8 muscle.

$43,500 MSRP...
Yea, but look at window sticker; it’s bloated with options AND that is straight up MSRP before any negotiations at all:

$43,500.00 before taxes for a 4 cylinder you have to be kidding. Ford should design and build a bulletproof V6 then you would have a car that could hold it's own and last.
I don't disagree with the price being high, but what problems are surfacing with the 2.3L that are killing durability?

Well the highest dollar option appears to be what makes it the High Performance model. And paying for it without the next most expensive option (Handling Package) really makes no sense to the target audience. What does the Eco do better than GT? Handling. To me the Handling Package by itself makes sense but Performance Package by itself doesn't. And what the hell is the $5k Performance Package? The only parts listed on the monroney are active exhaust, some stickers and a $50 to make spoiler?

Uh, what base BMW are you looking at for $45k ?

You can option out a 230i with plenty of toys for $600 less than your buildout. An M240i is the same price (OK, $30 more).

I was looking at the 430i. Either way only 248HP. Both of these cars are excellent, no disrespect there. I was only trying to get across the $40k for an EB is not crazy for someone looking for this type of car.
