I wouldn't be so sure that a manual version won't happen.

It's the easiest way Ford can lure people away from the C8.
I agree it would be nice but it just won't happen. For all the cost of development testing and certification it's just not worth cost for such a small number that would be sold. That's why Ford and GM went with the DCT.

GM had to go with a DCT due to packaging reasons in the C8. Ford doesn't have that problem with the GT500.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

A convertible will not happen.
I am hoping they make a manual though.
Never say never when it comes to Ford building a new GT500 convertible as they built ~1725 GT500 convertibles with 662 HP in 2013/2014 therefore with only a difference of 98 HP between the two GT500's I would suggest that anything is possible.

Meh, they maybe similarly priced, but these cars are in different categories. Also you can load up the c8, front end lift kit, pdr, removable carbon roof. Even a convertible. Mid engine is just icing on the cake.
I'd take a gt500 over a regular c8 tho, but the c8z just like the previous z06s isnt going to disappoint.
C8 is priced like a boxster/Cayman, but way better motor.

I know what you mean but the older GT500 cars were not built to be track cars like this one.
Also it would just add more weight.

They will definitely announce it. But even if you order one as soon as the order banks open, all that will happen is you calling Ford Performance to check on the status of the build and hearing “This is still listed as Unscheduled - Material Hold. Sorry.”.

From what I understand they are only building them in September and October and then stopping until the new year. My order was "officially" placed on 08/26 and the dealers allocated build date was 10/21. However, Ford then told him they would not be able to build the car until January or February due to the reasoning I just stated. Whether all of this is true remains to be seen, but with the amount of orders people have placed that are still unscheduled material hold, I will bet that is truly the case and a lot of us will be impatiently waiting.

My Whippled '18 just got totaled, so I think I'm going to take my payout and put it away, save a bit more, and then pick one of these up when the initial hype dies down a bit. That or going to 350 route....

No need for a convertible version of this car.

My '07 GT500 was a vert, worst car purchase decision I've ever made, and will ever make. If it had been a coupe, I'd likely still have it. Too compromised.

Haha. That is probably the truth.

Marketing director: "How many of these are we making?"
Associate marketing director: "5000."

Marketing director: "Are they all sold?"
Associate marketing director: "Every single one of them."

Marketing director: "Do we even need to put out a 'Build and Price' tool?"
Associate marketing director: "The guys over at M6G seem pretty anxious to build and price a car they already ordered."

Marketing director: "Ugh, ok give it to Steve and tell him to finish it by the end of the day."
Associate marketing director: "I'm sorry but Steve doesn't even work in marketing or graphic design. He's just some intern we pay to do burnouts in the parking lot."

Marketing director: " . . . Perfect."
It's not even just the GT500, from what I saw. The regular GT with PP1 doesn't show the spoiler in the render, even though it's listed as being included.

Give FP {800-367-3788 option 1) a call and ask them for the cars status, you will need the VIN or order number and dealer code. They should be able to give you the low down. I think your dealer is wrong about the build time.

I had 2008 and 2009 GT500's both in coupe and convertible configurations and both were not good cars in my opinion and in fact my NA 2012 Boss 302's were much better cars than either of those two cars.

While speaking with many Ford driver instructors at many events during the time both cars were assembled at the same time they also confirmed my opinion with every instructor stating that the 2012/2013 Boss cars were a much better drivers car than any of the 2007 to 2012 GT500's.

Wasn't the boss supposed to be a "turns exist" kind of car, and the GT500 back then were drag queens? Seems to me if Ford wants to make a car trackable (like the 2020 gt500) they are more than capable.

Agreed, 100%.

I'd much rather have a Boss than a 2007-2012 GT500. Even a 2013-2014, frankly, if I had to go back to an S197 (unless building a strip car). I actually preferred my '09 Bullitt to my '07 GT500 despite the power deficit, far better balanced....
