2017 is out, when is Android Auto/Carplay coming to 2016?

Sure. But let's not pretend Ford didn't know this different usb port would be required when they released sync 3 in the 2016s.

From what I can tell, the iPhone wants to operate in USB host mode. I believe this is a USB standard. So this is Ford not adhering to the USB Protocol. Obviously, Ford is the issue here, not Apple. There are already several cars from GM, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, Volkwagen, etc. that work with CarPlay in their 2016 MY vehicles. Ford has really dropped the ball on this! I have a 2015 so my POS MFT is something I have to live with anyway (until I upgrade to Sync3 or Aftermarket). I planned to upgrade to Sync3 but maybe I should wait a few more years!

In the android auto thread a ford rep said that it'll the end of the year when we see the update be released.

I certainly understand your frustrations regarding the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto update. This update will be available for all 2016 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3.
