Debating between these two tires which are both 10.5” wide. The Hoosier is 22lbs vs 31lbs for the MT and a tire made exclusively for the drag strip which works for me since I change wheels for the street/drag strip any way. I know these Hoosiers are relatively new but does anyone have experience comparing the two?

I’ve been a life long Mickey guy. I know the Rs work. Those Hoosiers look promising. Try em out and report back.

Doesn't appear to be D.O.T. like the ETSR

I just got the 305/45/17 ET Street Rs. Still waiting on a bit cooler weather to arrive and my new halfshafts to be installed before trying them out. Just found out about the Hoosiers though and they are ~$100 cheaper per tire too. I wanted to be able to drive to the track on the tires so that was the reason for going with the Mickeys. However, I may try the Hoosiers when these wear out or if I decide to start changing rear tires at the track if I wear out my Mickeys too fast from driving on them. My closest track is 50 miles each way and the other 2 tracks I will be going to are 78 miles and 114 miles away.

Im using the 275/60/15 DR2 right now which I bet is a similar tire compound and construction wise. Ive got it on a 9" wheel and im seeing the wheel is not wide enough, but the tire still works very well. I might have to try the above tire and go to a 10.5" wheel in the 17s. I think thats gonna be a really good tire.

I will try these when my R wears out because I trailer mine to the track anyway. I bought a set of NT555rs for daily use.

I just put them on some D5 beadlocks and will be testing this Friday. I was running 305/45R17 Street R’s on Racestars. They are significantly lighter with a very thin sidewall and balanced better than any M/T I have ever owned.

Curious... do the Hoosiers have black lettering on the other side of the tire? I'm not into the white lettering thing. Hope they work out though, they are a bit cheaper than MT.

Well, it was an expensive experiment for me. Might be different for someone else though.
A little about the car. 15 GT VMP Gen3R 900whp, fully built 6r80 by PBH, 1c converter 3.55’s.
Last time out without built trans and converter it went 9.5 @148 with Street R’s on.
First pass with Hoosiers went 9.76 @144.8.
Second pass I snapped off the ears on the diff housing and broke the 1000hp driveshaft.
PBH and tech support at Ford Racing basically said, yeah the Hoosiers dead hook and break shit, also e.t. and mph will be slower due to more rolling resistance. At a no prep track or Mexico is probably where these tires shine.
Long story short, going back to the Street R’s.
