Which would be a better option for 700-800hp turbo car. A gen 2 6r80 or gen3 a10 ?

Gen 3 high compression=lower boost
Gen 3 bigger head bolts
Gen 3 faster transmission
Gen 3 better fuel system
Gen 3 more knock sensors
Gen 3 high redline
Gen 3 fluid damper
Gen 3 better flowing heads

Gen 2 sleeves in block
Gen 2 stronger block with sleeves
Gen 2 lower compression more forgiving
Gen 2 more reliable transmission?
Gen 2 more boosted

I think they are evenly matched.
I would go with the gen 3 because the A10 is the bees knees.

Gen 3.
With the gen 3 at that power level you won't have to touch the trans.
That power level is very easily achievable with just a set of injectors and a bap on 93. Would suggest fuel system upgrade and e85 to be safe though.

Both have pros and cons and will give you the results your looking for. Personally I'd go 15-17 because of how cheap they can be found! If I had a 18+A10 I think I'd have to play around first NA on E85 before eventually going FI!

I think the 15-17 looks better but that A10 is nice. Can’t go wrong with either

Cant go wrong with either. Both platforms support 800whp in stock form. The 6r80 is probably more comfortable at that level then the 10r.

Trust me when I say, you'll always want more so nothing stays very stock for long (even motors and transmissions).

Buy the one you can get the best deal on that is the cleanest and build from there.

A local Coyote specialized shop up here has gone through 3 10r80s running a twin turbo setup at about 800 hp. He told me personally that the 10 speed clutches can't handle power. At stock or near stock, 10 speed has advantages, but if you're going to go 800+ on it, it will give you grief.

The 10r80 has gone 8’s many many times.

How fast do you want to go?

If i go with the 10r80 i will definitely do clutches. 7th gear will not hold for long above 750 at the track

I'm curious what their Tq management is like with their tuning. Sounds like they just send it and blame the Trans.

My experience has been that the McLeod clutches are absolutely needed after some time with 750+rwhp passes. (For sure)
I stay out of 7th gear when under power no matter what.
The rest of the 10R80 has been extremely impressive under alot of power and many track passes for me. I am impressed.
