Does the GT350 have a governor limit? Additionally, what's the max speed anyone has reached at a straight away. The main reason I ask is because I'm running NT555 G2 (W Rated) with a max speed of 168 and would hate to forget that's how fast it rated for and realize too lately I've reached 175 mph. If I have to go back to Y rated tires I will. Cost savings are a little and I do like the thread design more on the G2. However, safety is #1 for me. Especially if realistically 160 mph + is reachable on the 350 (stock) which hopefully someone here can share some details.

Nitto NT555 G2 (RATED W, up to 168 mph)
285 35 19 (2) = 526
305 35 19 (2) = 556
TOTAL = $1,082

Pilot Super Sports (RATED (Y), in excess 186mph)
295 35 19 (2) = 702.92
305 35 19 (2) = 677.18
TOTAL = $1,380.10

Extreme Contact Sport (RATED Y, not more than 186mph)
295 35ZR 19 (2) = 607.98
305 30ZR 19 (2) = 611.98
TOTAL = $1,219.96

I know of no speed governor, only the rpm redline 8250.

175 at the top of 5th gear, limited by drag. Shift into 6th gear and you'll lose a battle to physics. There is no electronic limiter. There is also no road course on the continent that you will ever see that without serious power modification.

That's what I was thinking without boost or a blower 175mph will be hard to reach? Personally, I think the NITTO NT555 G2 handle amazingly well. I feel confident in them performing extremely well. If I understood you correctly, 175 mph will be very difficult to reach on a road course? I see most videos showing 150 mph being the max for a second or two before they're hard braking to 60 - 80 mph.

2017 GT350 now gone to a great home.
Yeah, tough to hit 150 at most track events that I see. 140-145 more likely

More like impossible. Even a Corvette Z06 has a hard time topping 160 on most road courses. The amount of ground you cover at those speeds per second, and if you're continuing to accelerate, is astronomical.

Now this may be an a-hole moment but here me out, and this isn't just you, OP. What is the appeal of these NT555 G2s? I have had several experiences with them and have been trying to convince myself otherwise, but I personally think they're garbage. I get the appeal of saving on tires especially for street driving but there are much better offerings out there for around the same price. Continental ExtremeContact Sport all day every day, particularly on the R that you have there.

I believe @Tomster has our official forum stock top speed at 175mph on Daytona. Will let him chime in.

Nastang, I think without pulling Michellin, Continental, and Nitto's specs from the tire compound to how their built... we'd be spinning our wheels here trying to convince one another why one is better than the other. All I can say is that I'm running them for the first time and I'm contemplating running them again when it's time to get new tires. That's how safe I feel when I'm on the road. Meaning, I feel like they grip just as good as Pilot Super Sports. Truly, it's just an experience you'll have to find out for yourself. G2 is there second revision too. Best of luck, PS. It's actually just a non-R with the R OEM calipers on there.

Are you only running them on the streets? Because if you are then of course. Can't really reach the limit of either tire on the streets. On autocross or track though, holy hell, quite a difference.

I believe that was what they call "dramatic license". No way he was going that fast.

Mountain runs and street at the moment, I'd like to take them to the track. It sounds like you think I'll have a different experience which I'll respect. Your advice is to switch to the Continental Extreme Sport.

He got arrested because he was live streaming it. If that's the same guy that I'm thinking about. Let's stay on topic please. Let's discuss safety, tires, and max speed.

I think for what you're spending, the Extreme Sports will be a better offering. Same road noise. VERY comfortable on the street and the wet performance is truly second to none. A lot of autocrossers actually switch to the Conti DW's and Extreme Sports from their badass RE71R's and Rival 1.5's when it starts to rain because they're just that damn good. I truly think no one makes a better STREET oriented tire than Continental. They're so good. For all out performance, the sidewalls could use some viagra (and so could everything from Toyo/Nitto) even though they're better than the DW's but the trade off is exceptional road mannerisms.

I will second this. Beyond extremely happy with mine. And I happen to think it's a better looking tire as well; if you care about such trivial matters...I do! Like I posted in another tire thread, Michelin is most certainly not the end-all-be-all of tires options for this car. Far from it. Especially for the street.

I don't know about Tomster or what tracks he is going, but I have never been able to go over 130 on our tracks in MA. And this is floored on the straight in 3rd and then 4th... never get to redline in 4th as I run out of road.
Palmer motorsports, the nicest track (I think) we have around, is a track where your steering wheel is never straight during a lap (well, apart from when you transition :) ) .
