Hey everyone,

If I have the Ford Performance CAI w/Procal Tune on my 16MY EcoBoost, can I easily run E85 with upgraded injectors? Or will I need more upgrades/different tune?

No. It's not calibrated to run on E85.

What exactly will another tune do, the ProCal tune already advances timing until it senses knock. Why can’t I use E85?

Ok, since no one will volunteer WHY you can't use E85 on this tune, I will try to explain.

E85 is alcohol mixed with a little gasoline, like your winter gasoline mix 85% gas/15% ethanol in some places, only reversed.

Alcohol burns much faster and much colder.. The timing, advance and spark all have to be adjusted to the new fuel, and the 91/93 Octane curve isn't in the ball park and CAN NOT adjust as needed. That is why you need a new tune for E85.

Unless I am wrong then please correct me.

The hpfp and injectors also dont have enough headroom to support the additional 30% fuel flow that e85 requires
