My local dealer says this abnormal noise could be in some cases from the duel mass flywheel new on the gen3 coyote. I know there’s lots of theories about the cause but anyone heard that one before?

Is the flywheel change true?

Anyone with any mechanical knowledge know if there’s any mileage in that idea?

Your mileage may vary but I don't think it's related to the flywheel or clutch
Automatic cars do it too!!

2k rattle is the DI pump. Put a mechanics stethoscope on it and listen.

Is it easy for you to replicate the rattle without driving your car?

Yes. Cold it rattles from ~2200 to ~2900 rpm. As it warms it gets quieter.

Mine is not temp dependent. It's either there or not...inconsistent as all get

Ford Tech in the UK have diagnosed the fault to be the flywheel and I have one on order. The the theory is that it's causing vibration through the clutch and crank. Anyone with any coyote mechanical knowledge? Does this ring true?

I have the same 2K rattle as I've heard in all of the videos. The rattle now sometimes extends above 2K. Sometimes I can reproduce the noise now revving in neutral.

See why do the 2 new GT's at the dealership not make the noise?

Almost all 18+'s have it , the ones that dont may just not be broken in yet. Mine seems to be less noticeable if I get the oil near the top of the fill line on the dipstick and I use 2 bottles of ceratec. It may just be less noticible since its hot out here currently I think its a bit louder in winter but, no one has had any negative affects from it from what I can tell. Its nothing to do with the transmission since autos and manuals both have it. In the autos you need to have it in paddle mode to hear it or else it will just shift before 2k or be too high of a load when it goes through that range.

Yes you have the rattle... it’s not in the clutch

That’s actually funny!
Ask the dealership?
And then ask if they’ll warranty any future noise...
“DI pump , all 18’s and up have it , some hear it some don’t , exhaust volume , driving style , manual or auto and ....”
that’s funny too!
You guys appear to live on another 2k rattle planet....or live in another solar system.
Orbit the planet a little longer & report back

Mine has been rattling at 2500-3300 since about a month after I bought it a year ago and still shredding the streets. About to slap a blower on it and send it. Just enjoy your car.
