FORD SHOULD HAVE : tuned the car more agressvly and also geared it with 4:10s atleast !! thats what im saying .. i have owned a shitload of serious fast cars and i know solid performance when i drive it !! my 2020 bmw M340 Ix is actually a beast of a car for a turbo straight 6cyl . rated at 382/376 and feels a like 450/450
That would have killed fuel economy enough to require a gas tax on the car.

Really they should have merged the PPL2 and BULLITT. Even in the movie the GT 390 isn't FAST it's taking corners and chasing. They should have used that angle. They would also have saved on marketing 1 package instead of 2.

What in the world made you think that this was a drag car?? Was BULLITT a drag race Movie?? Did you not realize that the car has IRS??? Did you think is was going to magically not have the wheel hop every s550 has since 2015??
EVERYBODY knows that the A10 is quicker in the 1/4.... but with 460hp shouldn't it be faster too?? Just like Everybody knows these days a fking kia will outrun most mustangs in the 1/4.
Give your head a shake; Ford made the mustang into a "sports" car, no longer is it built for the straight line. this is the best balanced mustang ever built (I mean the s550, not just the Bullitt) Fast as hell, handles great, gorgeous lines and high quality finish for the money, the coyote is probably the best sounding engine ever installed in a car under $200,000.... tons to love about this car... But hating it for something it was not built for is just stupid :facepalm:

You want 1/4 mile performance go buy a 1990 fox trunk.... stone stock 225hp with 456 gear, 90-10s up front and a shot of nos has you in the 10's.

A M240 M3 is a proper handling car ..so tell us mr car God what was this 50+ k car built to do cruise 50 mph up and down the strip and pretend to be a performance car then why 480hp , why not a ecoboost

coming from a guy that has never owned or tracked one !! ok pal >95g is no to terrible on a big car such as a Challenger !!!its all relavant to what your comparing it too!! A corvette its not but it isnt as bad as what people say or think !! Everyone assumes because its big and heavy it cant handle thats BS i have had 3 Challengers and actually done very well autocrossing it . People say you cant drag a ZX14r through the twisties -sorry but i can drag my knee on the street with mine with a good sticky tire and keep up with the 1000 sport bikes with short wheel base ...Maybe you cant drive !!!

Typical Keyboard Warrior .you called more than me a moron -You implied to all the guys that feel as if this car is under acheiving in performance and acceleration are morons for not feeling a certain way about a car that you or others may find exciting and awsome ,to some people Maybe its Just not enough or what we expected !! Its that simple , I guess we are all entitled to our opinions .I buy 2 new performance cars a year to 18 months on average so im sure if this car doesnt meet my needs or expectations in a timley manner it will be yesterdays news ..I am actually done arguing in this thread ,Sorry if my thoughts or opinions OFFENDED People .The basic point that I and some others were stressing was that 480hp or 435rwhp 6 speed car should be a bit faster than this has proven to be ,I didnt buy it to drag race but it Should atleast Be a 12.20 117-118 mph traps with this HP .I have made a few passes in my cars and for the record my 2012 gt 6 speed made 414/392 rwhp/tq had 3;73 s and ran 12.16 /12.26 @ 116 and 115 the gear ratios were slightly shorter but in my opinion the MT82D4 in the bullitt is not really terrible in ratios and very similar to my T56 magnum XL I installed in my 07 3V Shelby GT-H and that made 312/307 and ran 12.86 108mph ..2.97 -2.10 -1.43-1.1 /3:73s ...well hopfully we can all agree to dissagree and move foward from here .Have A great Night .

The amount of massively messed up grammar and punctuation tells me you are angry. Also to not bother reading your reply.

Also Skidpad is more about tires grip than the cars handling ability. I can make a 1997 Escort coupe pull 1G, doesnt mean it will handle like a 2000 Cobra R or Lotus Elise

Anyway, reasons for slow times:

1. Poor launches and bad 60 foot times
2. Heavy car - 3.850 lbs before driver, so over 4,000 lbs fully loaded with a typically sized American adult
3. Long factory gear ratios in the transmission - Significantly longer than 15-17 GTs which results in dropping out of the peak torque range when changing up. A10 keeps car in peak power band through shifts as well.

Improve #1 and the car is a mid-12 second car.

Itā€™s pretty much #1. I run a slightly heavier car, 100% stock, at the same track and regularly get 12.8, even with bad DA. His Bullitt should have me by about 2 - 4 tenths. And my 60ā€™ times are not earth shattering.

Most of us guys (I don't know any gals that own Bullitts) are kinda older. I'm 64. I enjoy the Bullitt a lot. I also knew the gearing was bad when I bought it. I do think I could do some 12s with a few goodies. BMR kit, etc. If I had to sum up my largest complaint. And I do not have many as I love the car. Is that 1st gear just does not have the torque to pull the way I would like. Just my opinion. It's just too flat because even though it does have the power, it just has too long of a climb to get there. I'm posting another thread tonight with some pictures of the Whipple install.

Iā€™m expecting that Ford used different bushings in the IRS on the GT500 than GT PP1, Bullitt and maybe even GT350. Swapping out to those components may eliminate wheel hop without any increase in NVH, and help you keep factory engineered parts on your car.

Agreed that 3.73s are a little soft for the new tranny gearing. A set of Ford Performance 4.09s should cure it.
Hi - Its nice to see the exchanges more positive now, the way they should be. Iā€™m am undoubtedly an outlier as I bought this car for pleasure driving (well mostly) but I still enjoy the congenial exchanges for educational purposes. From my perspective the car has more than enough power, but I accepted that in order to get the Bullitt. I like tall gearing and one of my pre-purchase thoughts was even, why not 3.55 gearing? However since joining this forum I realize that a significant number of owners are engine performance oriented and thus the quest for better acceleration or track performance. So Iā€™m happy that I can now return to enjoying this exchange. Thank you for the informative aspects... Bruce

Seems like a lot of guys would have been satisfied with an Ecoboost Bullitt performance wise.The Bullitt in my opinion should be a jack of all trades ,it should comfortable handle and be fast /faster than a GT for the premium we pay and the name on the back says Bullitt make it move like one .
