Swapped out the stock gloss grille for an RTR grille today. The whole time I was like really Ford... have to remove the entire bumper to change the grille. It was loads of fun...

are all s550s supposed to come with an active grille shutter system? I know my ecoboost had it, but my GT doesn't. I'm not sure if if was a feature or if the previous owner took it off

Doesn't seem very aerodynamic to me with them closed. It's like a large flat plate. Try moving that through the air compared to a plate with holes in it, which has less aerodynamic drag? Then again I'm no aerodynamic engineer.

I took the shutters off about a week ago. My thinking is, MAYBE they reduce drag a little at high speeds which MAYBE is a little better gas mileage, but taking them off DEFINITELY reduces the car's weight, which DEFINITELY helps at all speeds.

How much weight, though? You could probably take a couple of big dumps and not eat restaurant food for a week to make up the difference.

Plus like anything some will fail. If they fail closed, you can be stranded or worse. I'd take them out and pay for the extra .05 MPG

"Dipping" the spoiler. The coating is still wet in the pic. I'll send a finished product when it's done. My hope is that the black will really pop against the velocity blue paint.

It wouldn't have been easier to pop the spoiler off? or are they taped on
With Plasti-Dip it is MUCH easier to mask off the overspray areas and spray it on with the spoiler on the car. Like 2 hours easier. Removing the spoiler is a chore. Getting to the 4 mounting bolts underneath is easy. But its the two-sided tape all the way across the mounting surface of the spoiler and trunk lid that is challenging. The "fishing line" technique works well, but then you have to deal with removal of the old adhesive and re-installing a new adhesive strip. It is a process. Plasti-Dip is forgiving. The painters tape will pull right off without any effort. Masking the car took 15 minutes.

Finished product. The dip came out beautifully, just not sure if I love it. I'll give it some time and worst case I can peel it off if it doesn't grow on me.

Hey, I resemble that... Are you gonna eat that last donut? Mmm, thanks.

Not much weight, I don't have a small scale, but I'd guess 2 or 3 pounds. Every little bit helps.
