I would just like to be the first to say the jacking off of the C8 needs to be put on hold until real people get their hands on one and do real tests. Remember the C7 Z06 with its claimed 2.95 0-60 that no one could ever come close to or the overheating issues that plagued it. Can't wait to see what issue inevitably will affect the C8. I'm willing to bet money some of these figures won't be achieved outside of GM or a perfect prepped surface. As others have said to Gm has purposely left out some testing numbers that aren't in there favor so we should hold off on the circle jerk.
You sir are correct !!Garbage Motors has been lieing about performance numbers for years.i believe nothing they say until tested by other people. I will say this, I believe nothing in the class of the GT500 will touch it, and it will take cars that are alot more expensive to beat it.:sunglasses:

Look I really like the 500. I drive a Mustang how could I not.

I just think Ford dropped the ball. 4200 pounds vs 3550?
I just can not believe how many people look at it like this...

Why is it 4200 pounds vs 3550 and not 10.8 (est) vs 11.3, or lap time vs lap time? Look, I know people have been comparing specs for years, and its fun to do so. But it seems like nowadays the majority of people will call a car a fail, or say they "dropped the ball" based on a certain spec they don't like even it it means completely ignoring what the car can actually do.

From what we already know about the gt500, it can run a 10 second quarter mile, it has top tier braking capabilities, and to quote Billy Johnson, it runs "super car lap times". I challenge anyone that continues to call this car a fail, or say that Ford dropped the ball to compile a list of cars under 100k that check all those boxes.

Huh? Outside of the overheating with model years 2015 and 2016, the Z06 did exactly what GM said it would do. Overheating issue was corrected with the 2017+ models if I remember correctly. Many owners on full stock models ran sub 10's with the autos and it has posted some of the best lap times out there at multiple benchmarking road courses. Newly introduced high performance cars have growing pains. That's the nature of the beast. I will be surprised if the C8 is perfect initially with all the changes that are incoming.

WoW, that 1/4 is better than I thought, even the top speed is better... and the weight is also less than I thought. A Win in my book. Unreal to tell you the truth and that Z06 version is going to be fast and hell.

I think the Z is gonna be nuts. More and more rumors are flying about a twin turbo flat plane crank engine.

In my eyes it is 4200 vs 3550 because anyone can buy a 28k car and giveme11s that sucker for 6k and have 700rwhp.

The next level of performance car is weight. The 500 will be a beast of a car but there is just so much you can do with that weight.

Again I will say this. We are comparing a mustang to a Corvette. That just shows how irrelevant the Camaro is or how relevant the Mustang is.

I just wish like 78% of the country we could lose a few pounds.

This thing is going to slaughter the GT500 on the street at any reasonable street speed.
The c8 wont hook on the street just like a gt500 wont their measurement is on a prepped drag strip. From a roll which basically 100% of street racing is, the gt500 will obliterate it so hard it will be hilarious. With drag radials the gt500 will do 0-60 better on the street than the c8. The gt500 will trap 10-15 mph higher than the c8 at the dragstrip. With a pulley e85 and tune the gt500 will make an easy 900+ rwhp, c8 will never make over 700 without a built engine + power adder. The c8 is so overhyped that its hilarious. I cant wait to race one in my tune only 10r80 GT lol.

There is only question that is relevant when it comes to the C8: Does GM know how to build a mid-engine car?

For the GT500 there are no questions that have even close to that degree of uncertainty.
GT500 question. How comfortable are you going to be with having the same guy that just replaced little Suzies brake pads in her base Fiesta work on your GT500?

A mid-engine C8 won't hook, too funny.

0 to 60 MPH in 2.9 will be the norm. No stock Mustang has a chance 0 to 80 MPH.

What's your excuse when the C8 Z06 doing 9's in the Qtr mile, bone stock?

Corvette is the New Street King, Mustang GT500 will be the Qtr Mile King until the C8 Z06 arrives in 2 years.

Specs were released yesterday at Corvette Event.

490/495HP with Z51 setup

0 to 60MPH in 3.0 (Base) Z51 is 2.9 seconds.

0 to 100 MPH in 7.6 seconds. (Not sure how fast compared to other cars)

Quarter mile in 11.3 (Camaro ZL1 1LE is 11.4 with 650HP)

Top Speed is 193MPH

Curb Weight: 3535 lbs

Amazing specs for $59,995.00 (should keep ADM pricing down on GT500)

I guess if the GT500 is running 10.8 in the quarter then it won't be a contest.

Braking from 60MPH seems anemic, 108 feet. I expected much less.

C7 stops in 90 feet.

At 3,535 lbs it should handle great.

I was leaning towards a Base GT500 until this news. Decisions, decisions.

Think I'll wait to see how both cars do in the real world.

My guess is 0 to 80 MPH this thing will beat a lot of expensive imports.

Yahoo just ran story on how corvette forum is listing dealerships who promise MSRP.
