I won't be tracking it. I can go full throttle for 2.9 sec a LOT on the street. Never gone full throttle for a quarter mile on the street. So easy choice for me.
Where you use the power is a fair point, but doesnt change the price range you're paying for similar performance. If all you wanna do is 0-60 launches, not sure why you would spend $60k+ on a vette though. Just get a Focus RS, drop a little weight and up the power and fly, or a used older porsche with a PDK and launch control.

There is only question that is relevant when it comes to the C8: Does GM know how to build a mid-engine car?

For the GT500 there are no questions that have even close to that degree of uncertainty.

Yea for him to say something like that just shows he is out of contact with reality :lipssealed:
Actually, he is a very reasonable and well informed person who's opinion I respect (unlike the guy who started this thread). I believe he is correct.

Before people start making assumptions, how about we get a GT500 delivery or the final #'s?

It’s not a horsepower problem. It’s a weight problem. 1st and 2nd.
Whats 2nd gear go to?
Notice GM left out 0-100-0, but made sure to mention 0-100 in high 7s
We know the gt500 will do high 6s 0-100

So please, take the C8 bukkake fest back to svtp or the gm boards, but the gm boards are even more level headed

An LT1 with Z51 package would only be $64,995, to get the "quicker" numbers posted above. Pretty good value considering it's a mid-engine sports car.

I would just like to be the first to say the jacking off of the C8 needs to be put on hold until real people get their hands on one and do real tests. Remember the C7 Z06 with its claimed 2.95 0-60 that no one could ever come close to or the overheating issues that plagued it. Can't wait to see what issue inevitably will affect the C8. I'm willing to bet money some of these figures won't be achieved outside of GM or a perfect prepped surface. As others have said to Gm has purposely left out some testing numbers that aren't in there favor so we should hold off on the circle jerk.

You are very reasonable and the trolls that keep going back to the same old subject are annoying.

Look I really like the 500. I drive a Mustang how could I not.

I just think Ford dropped the ball. 4200 pounds vs 3550?

There is only so much traction where miles are actually drive. Chevy in my opinion built an awesome car. Ford doesn’t just get a pass because I am a fan boy.

But that we are comparing the two is a win in itself.

Seems like this thread is posted in the wrong section. Should be in off-topic or general automotive. I love to talk cars just as much as the next guy, but come on. Even for people not buying a GT500, this is getting old.

It's a completely different chassis. That's the big difference.
