In the GT500 case, people will mod for weight.
How? replace frame members with hydroformed AL parts? Re-skin the car in carbon fiber or AL panels?

The hood and fenders are already a composite on the GT500.

Depends on what they have. If it's the base then lighter wheels, no back seats, there are ways to get a car lighter. It depends just how far you want to go. I not saying the end result will be a 3500 car, but I am saying it can be lower then 4250 weight. Again this is the base. We have no ideal what the CFTP will weigh.

how many of you actually track your cars competitively?
I have only owned one Mustang and that's my current 2014 500 (although I had many "souped up" vehicles back in the day.) I've certainly torn up the roads and streets with all of them but I have never been on a track. Odds are, I'm by no means alone. BUT, that doesn't mean I might not give it a try with this fabulous vehicle.

Well the base is 4225 and it has been published that the CFTP will be around 100lbs'ish less, so we have some idea.

I for one take my car out on the back roads in North Texas that would come close or better than a track. A lot of right lefts at 90 degrees. I practice monthly sometimes weekly. I have not raced but I know how to handle a car very well since I was 16. Wanting a lighter/more powerful car is what we all want, racing or not. I have taken this, one of many routes, with the Mustang GT, then the GT350 and now the ZL1 and my times got faster with each car. I have some videos with the PDR in the ZL1. Even Google gives a base time. Very fun.

Gotta take it to COTA and report back.

I've taken my car to laguna seca but need to get track tires and at the very least upgrade my brake pads. A lot of butt pucker moments driving hard on stock crappy p-zero grip tires with no track insurance. Lol

I'll be excited to see the gt500 not only on the track but on the street. I'm a mustang guy at heart and my head always turns when I see nicely modded ones and gt350/older gt500 on the road. They just have a presence. To me it's been that way since the 00 cobra R days.

remember, the 7 speed dct doesnt have a 1:1 gear, so you'll have to do a bit of calculation to get the real power

Actually I have purchased 3 R's and 1 2015 Track Pack car at MSRP with them all coming from 3 different dealerships.

The 2015 GT350 is still on the MSO therefore never titled.

With respect to my CFTP car that was also purchased at MSRP in Arizona.

:)

Honest question out of pure curiosity, what made you purchase 3 R's to begin with? Most just...you know, buy one. Completely intrigued over here.

666 would be 12% loss but as Machsmith said, they are dyno'ing in a 1.10 gear ratio so that will skew results a bit.

Redeyes seem to dyno in the 715whp range for a 10% loss with a 1:1 6th gear.

12.5% driveline loss is to be expected if a little low. Every dyno is different. Eddy-Current ones tend to be more consistent from one to another. SAE correction factors are just that 'fudges' to "normalize" measured output. Short of running the same car on the same dyno 'back to back' the values really aren't comparable at a resolution less than 3%.
