The ZL1 1LE has solid bushing and multimatic suspension. The GT500R has magneride. It (GT500) is going to ride like a Cadillac compared to the ZL1 1LE.
Not with the Magnetic Damper Settings set on Track mode. You can also adjust the ZL1 1LE manually to give it a softer ride. Its pain in the ass though. I don't know if most people knew the ZL1 1LE is only around 3830 lbs. Thats pretty light for a supercharged camaro with lots of coolers. Even the 2014 GT500 base model was around 3850 lbs with not enough cooling for track duty.

Other mid-engine cars have manual transmissions in them.

Heck, the DeTomaso Pantera has a manual transmission along with the best cam in block engine ever designed Ford's 351 Cleveland.
Yes but those cars had a manual in mind and were designed to accommodate that. Right from Chevy:

Executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter told Car and Driver that part of the reason is the desire to not breach the mid-engine C8's central tunnel: "That tunnel is the backbone of the car, and if you break the backbone, you lose a lot of structural efficiency. With a shifter, you have to have a big hole in the tunnel for the linkage to go through."

Pretty easy to change it to comfort mode on the GT500 and ZL1.

You can adjust the ZL1 1LE, but my understanding is...it really doesn't soften the ride much at all, but rather just raises it slightly. The solid bushings and suspension really doesn't allow it to be any more comfortable than what it is.

It's a little heavier than the Camaro. About like having a passenger vs. not having one. It's not ridiculous by any means unless you are a GM fanboi and trying to come up with any possible means to talk down about it.

The GT500 has a much better power to weight ratio than the Camaro. Too bad Chevy can't figure out how to make more power. I guess if you aren't making much power you can run a smaller radiator, smaller brakes, etc. and save weight, huh?

Hopefully someday the Camaro will be able to borrow a DOHC V8 from the C8 so it can run with the BIG DOG GT500.
My understanding is that it is 300-400 pounds more. That is a lot more. That's more like 2 passengers. A normal sized passenger on a road course with me is generally about a second or more.

And GM did find a way to make more power. The ZR1 has 755HP. So, I'm not sure why that's a question.

I'm not so sure the GT500 is going to easily beat the ZL1 1LE on a road course. The HP advantage may not be enough. I'm not saying it wont, but everyone here seems to think it's going to magically blow everything away. Not so sure.

Ford already stated the GT500 carbon is the fastest Mustang on track ever. So it's faster than the GT350R.
Billy Johnson said that's generally true but there have been some instances where the 350R has been a bit faster because of its weight advantage. Very much depends on the track. A course like Blackhawk Farms, I could see the 350R being faster. Road Atlanta on the other hand? Road America? Forgetaboutit...GT500 will walk away

There are no modern mid engine cars left with a manual except the Cayman/Boxster. Everything else has gone to a DCT.

Too bad the Camaro couldn't get the ZR1 engine. Then it would be close to making the same power. Of course it would probably need more cooling and bigger brakes and it would cost more then.

I think it's more like 100 pounds. Are you comparing it to the V6 Camaro on weight?

I think the ZL1 1LE is around 3800 and change. Isnt the GT500 over 4200?

ZL1 1LE is around 3830 lbs, base GT500 is 4225 lbs. Almost 400 lbs of difference. Similar to having extra 2 big dudes in the car.

I did a search and came up with 4100 lbs and change, and another search said ~3944 for the ZL1 1LE with automatic. So I'm not sure exactly what it weighs.

Official specs:
https://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/en/chevrolet/vehicles/camaro-zl1/2019.tab1.html

The 3944 is the regular ZL1 with auto
4100 is the vert

3820 for the ZL1 1LE which I am assuming is manual. I saw 3830 listed somewhere as well. The regular ZL1 auto adds 60 pounds, so I think that's a fair assesment of additional weight for the 1LE as well.
