This is sweet , with all this “disappointment” hopefully no one wants them and I can snag a cftp at a reasonable price.

I choose the GT350 over the Challenger Hell Cat due its lighter weight.
Now I'm even happier that I didn't wait for the heavier GT500 with the automatic.

Seriously WTF Ford. The ZL1 1LE is 400 lbs lighter than the base 500. 400!!! 320 lighter than the estimate of the carbon track pack!
I’d like to hear your opinion on what happened. You were quite convinced on a lighter weight, did the project deviate from initial draft? Cost cutting?

4225 is quite heavy.

I don't even know how they got it that heavy. The stuff we know about adds up to a car at or +/- maybe 25-30 lbs from 4000.

I just went and looked at the 2014 GT500 and I forgot it was 3845.

Wait? 4200lbs? That's impossible. Cause it does 0-100-0 in 10.6 secs, and some of our resident GM trolls says heavy cars cannot accelerate, brake, or turn. There ya go eff'n bunyucks.

It is definitively on the heavy side for sure. Not that I'm buying one, but sucks that you spend about 80k for a car that still needs plenty of stuff done to make it the way it should've been made by Ford from the factory. It will reach the 100k price range and that is without counting on markups!

I am surprised and very disappointed by 4,225 lbs. I figured it would be 250 lbs heavier than a base GT350 which would be ~4,055 lbs. I also figured the CFTP would be ~250 lbs heavier than the GT350R, so that would be 3,970 lbs. I guess the DCT is much heavier than we assumed. As-is the base GT500 is 420 lbs heavier than a GT350, and the CFTP (if ~4,100 lbs) will be 380 lbs heavier than an R. That's simply ridiculous. Also, comparably equipped 6th gen Mustangs are around 80-100 lbs heavier than 6th gen Camaros, which would put those weight figures I originally thought in line with the ZL1 (3944 lbs for the ZL1 auto and 3,880 lbs for the ZL1 1LE A10). What gives, Ford?? I'd be embarrassed by these numbers if I was an engineer on their team (I'm an engineer, just not at Ford). Heck, even if it was 200 lbs heavier than a PP1 A10 that would be around 4000-4050 lbs. As-is it's about 400 lbs heavier than an A10 PP1 GT.

I love Ford and it is my fave american brand.

But really I want to know how Ford managed to add +450lbs compared GT350R.

I just looked up the weights of the Gen 6 Camaro, SS & ZL1 (36xx lbs vs 39xx lbs).

Just curious where you got your estimate for an 80 pound weight savings between a Base GT500 and a CFTP optioned car?

Not saying that you are not correct but do you have some sort of information to back up this claim or just an educated guess at this point?

Certainly the most significant weight savings will be the CF wheels and CF track wing and suggest that the rear seat delete and elimination of the heat/cooled and memory seats will also be quite helpful in weight reduction.

When I ordered my CFTP car I also purposely stayed away from the Technology Package as I don't need 12 speakers and a subwoofer in my trunk and certainly don't need 6 way power/memory seats and obviously not ordering this option will be helpful from a weight reduction standpoint.

The CFTP optioned cars may not come as spartan as my Base R model but do we know if the 2 seat GT500 comes with a tire inflator kit, trunk package tray, trunk mat, no sound deadener, no floor mats, etc. as was with the Base R models?

In any event I am suggesting that the CFTP optioned cars will be more than 80 pounds lighter than the Base GT500 and once I take delivery of my car I will head to the nearest scale to see where it comes in at.

Lastly, without question the base GT500 performance numbers will be very impressive to say the least let alone the overall performance of the lighter CFTP 2 seat cars and can't wait for my car to arrive.

The weight is actually good, all things considered, but I'm sure plenty of us internet experts could have made it lighter without the price skyrocketing. Instead of complaining just submit your CV to Ford and show us how it's done.
Lol, you are insane if you think this is "good" this car is not anywhere near the size of a challenger. And if anything the car weighs close to the zeta chassis gen 5 camaro zl1 convertible. Yup the heaviest camaro ever and its convertible (naturally heavier).

Maybe if Ford themselves had made it lighter before skyrocketing the price ($100k) then we wouldn't be here

So the difference between the 350R and the 500CF is around 445lbs.

Blower,, coolers and all their fluids, would be at least 200lbs on their own?
Heavier brakes (unknown difference),
Heavier gearbox...(110lbs difference)....
What else? Extra bracing? Larger, heavier-duty drivetrain components?

Not sure what the problem is if you're after a legit OEM 760hp car that can run many tanks dry on a track and still keep your warranty.

The problem is they're tacking on $30k to the price of an (already expensive) GT350R and didn't make a single effort to make the car any lighter. Lazy engineering
