I hate jumping on the train, but that is completely unacceptable. Will it handle the weight? I'm sure it will but what's so disappointing is the thought that it's a MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

That being said, it is what it is.
You should jump off that train unless you want to labeled as a "poor troll".

On the bright side it still weighs less than a Dodge Demon and Redeye!

Just like that the value of the GT350 went right back up!

The engineers said the GT500 won't heat soak, you can burn through a tank of fuel and it will not lose power.
I'm talking about the brakes.

The brake discs are massive on this car. I imagine there is a lot of weight to be shed if could be fitted with carbon ceramic rotors.
This is what I'm saying, 100k performance car missing carbon brakes. Ford taking another shortcut.

With drag radials Redeye runs mid 10's without a dual clutch. Weigh's 200lbs more. I'm thinking high 9's for the GT500 with the right setup without much changed

The GT500 track pack car will beat any car made in 2020 in its price range on the road course.
I suspect the new Z4 er, Toyota Celica will rain on your parade

Def high 10s with that weight. Its a pig.
Guy just ran a 10.4 with a redye weighing 200lbs more (drag radials of course) and without a dual clutch. Not sure about that

300lbs heavier than a ZL1?
Maybe a little more.

I hope not.

Add another 8grand to the sticker. It doesn’t make sense anymore.

This car will be fast, brutish, powerful. It’s not delicate, it won’t dance. It’s not a GT3.

It’s a hammer, not a scalpel. The GT350R, base at 3655lbs is the closest we’ll see ford get to that.

Also someone made the comment of weight - don’t worry we still have hybrid systems, that could push the car to 4400-4500. Man alive, we need a smaller car.
I have always wished Ford would have made a short wheel based, two seater of the Mustang.

Cant compare with weight of the manual vs an auto, lol. The GM auto is 3944. A little under 300lbs difference.
I just put both for a reference point. Because when Randy Pobst ran the ZL1 Auto and M6, the M6 was faster.

For the gt500 to break into the 9s its going to need that.
that's tough because Mclarens are doing it but they weight a lot less. Sure I'll agree wit that. I can see low 10's most likely with some guy, somewhere, with the perfect conditions hitting a 9.99 1 time and claiming he ran 9's.

I'm not surprised at all. The base GT500 is clearly a touring car: heated/vented seats, satnav, great audio available, 7 speed automatic. To get under 2 tons for less than 100k (with a big supercharged V8) you're looking at stripping many of the creature comforts away.
