Hi there

what model you would choose and why? Im thinking of getting AUTO GT, just debating what model to get. What tranny is faster, easier to tune, stronger, which has more aftermarket mods available 2015-2017 or 2018 and up? I would like to keep the engine OEM and max it out on E85, not sure yet what turbo kit im gonna go with.

Transmission wise if you plan on either of them putting out some serious power you'll need to upgrade quite a few things in the 6r80 vs the 10r80.
For the 6r80 you'll need new clutches/steels, billet intermediate shaft, and possibly billet planetary. Others can chime in on what I missed here since I have never had a 6r80. They now have billet for almost every part for the 6r80 to make it completely bullet proof,

For the 10r80 so far the only parts people have needed once putting down some high power is upgraded clutches/steels. I have the stage 2 package from LPF currently and it has held perfectly with my car making upwards of 1000whp.
My car was on the stock trans for a long time before I even did the clutches though. I would definitely say the 10r80 is the better of the two but both will need upgrades as you push more power.

If you plan on tracking the car you'll also need a converter for the 6r80 to get any kind of decent 60'. I've gotten plenty of 1.3 60's with the stock converter.

If you're looking for a Twin Turbo kit I would suggest LPF. Over 300 kits sold now I believe. They've been into the 7's with no changes to the production kit. I've been 8.95 @156 on stock motor on only 13lbs. Hoping to go out soon and turn it up even more. He also did all the tuning, built my trans, installed their fuel system, and just about whatever else to my car lol.

Let me know if you need any help in getting in contact with them!

Id look more at budget than anything.. What options do you want? Any specific color? Miles? What does a say 10k-20K mile 15-17 GT go for? How much for same mileage 18+? Interest rate on used vehicle vs new(possibly 0%?

If I could get a 17 GT with 10K miles for $23K-25K vs same mileage 18+ for $35K or new for low 40K I think Id go for the 17 GT. Put the other $10-13k into it.

I love my 2018 auto non PP car. I got it for 32k out the door with 47 miles on it and dropped another 10k putting the stage 2 edelbrock on it and I've never had as much fun with a car as I'm having now. The 10r80 is a great transmission, traction is definitely difficult but I love it.

both are nice trans, if your not getting crazy either will be fine.

if your going for a max effort 1000+ hp, the 6r80 has way more available and the route i would go

I’d do the ten speed. I wish someone would come up with a 10 speed swap into the older cars.

the biggest advantage for the 10 speed is for centrifical guys to keep them higher in the higher rpm range, on a pd / screw / tvs / turbo, won't make any difference.

you have to remember the 18 cars have a better manifold and a 1 point bump in compression. add both of those to a 17 car and tune both and both will run very similar ets
