Well, according to the Ford mechs at the dealer, it is.

I have what I thought was the "2k rattle" on my 2019 Bullitt but, according to the guys who looked at it, it's neither engine noise nor driveline noise, it's the sound of air sucking through the open airbox. The service writer said they had 3 guys standing around listening to it and they agreed that's what it was.

Opinions?

Hard to tell without you sharing a sound clip.
I probably can’t get one without wind noise drowning it out but it sounds like super-fast castanets... which could also sound like an air-sucking sound.

Most of us with the 2k rattle can hear it when sitting in the parking lot and messing with throttle while semi-warm.

My 2k rattle is the opposite. I cant recreate it when I'm in neutral reving it. Only while In motion.

Does it sound like it could be coming from the throttle body or maybe the CMCVs?

I always figured it was clutch chatter. This intake theory could hold up though. I never noticed mine until shortly after installing a jlt intake and tune.

I always got the impression (perhaps completely wrong) that it was coming from the driver side which is where the intake is.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could narrow this down? Like putting some mesh or part of an old air filter in the box just to see if it changes anything?

But aren't there cars with the same rattle and have an enclosed intake?
Probably.

They have committed to working with me to fix it, whatever "it" is.
