Car and driver states with the 0-100-0 of 10.6, the GT500 should accelerate from 0-100 in 6.7seconds.

So a sustained 0.68G in accell and -1.14G in braking. The braking part is not a stretch.

The C8's 0-60 in 2.8 seconds is 0.977G. If we assume 3.2 seconds, that's 0.855G, 3.5 seconds, 0.78G.
Using the Ultima GTR's 5.8 seconds for 0-100 which is a more reasonable metric, that's 0.786G.

*IF* the GT500 were able to match the rate of accell, it would be able to clock 0-100 between 4.7 to 5.8 seconds and comfortably under 10 sec for 0-100-0.

If the GT500 really can do 0.65G or more, that's one impressive benchmark.

Which begs the point - why release it? Unless of course the intent is to stir up another big dose of speculation, click-bait articles and trying to steal attention back away from the C8.

I would guess the accell time is actually 6.9-7.1 and it's the braking that impresses by getting under 4.0. In any event, it'll go like stink (for a 4000lb car - vs say a $7000 Suz SV650 v-twin which can do 0-60 in 3.3s with 75HP and 430lb weight - heh heh) and stop like hitting a brick wall. 5-point harness recommended.

Where did you hear that? It's unlikely the C8 Z51 is faster in the 1/4 mile than the C7 Z06. I don't see the C8 Z51 in the 10's stock.

No shit. I mean, I get the DCT, weight transfer, etc., is highly optimized/effective for the short 0-60 sprint, but on the back half the Z06 has a notable power advantage (where it really counts) and not much in the way of a deficit (maybe gearing?)

Sounds like BS. This c8 isnt anything new. Porsche has a mid engine car that is 500/600lbs lighter and that car isnt running 10s. Only thing the gt3 doesnt have is tq.
The c8 will not come close to a ford gt either. That car is around 200lbs lighter but with 647hp, running 10.8 1/4 mile.
Hopefully GM doesnt pull a dodge 9.65 demon run that nobody could replicate or beat.
