The GT500 will be more compared to the Z06 once the C8 gets a boosted engine.

Typing on smartphones isn't as convenient with manual transmissions, particularly in rush hour traffic.

I don't have industry data first hand, but heard from a source that apparently the reason for all this DCT/auto stuff of late is because manual transmission take-up is less than 10% for the Corvette, under 12% for the Dodge duo, and something like 15% for the Mustang. At some point even Ford will throw in the towel (I guess they already have vis a vis GT500) on manuals.
For the Mustang GT the take rate runs around 50%. I took the manual knowing I was giving up a half second to 60 and just under a second in the quarter mile. For this type of car, much more than just a straight line car, I think Chevy made a mistake. The low take rate for the vette is with their current old customers, for this car I think they will lose some folks. I drove my boss's GTR and while the first time you really hit the gas is awesome, there is something anodyne about it after a bit. I would take the gt350 over both the new vette and the gt500; I like that some of the gt500 tech has filtered down into the gt350.

I don't like the rear end on the C8. I think it's ugly. The old school Borla exhaust tips and just the whole rear end looks "off" to me.
The front and side profiles look great and the car is a great performer, but of course, because it's a Corvette. I don't like the interior at all. That steering wheel looks like it has Down Syndrome and those buttons along that center console is ugly. Just my opinion on those.
I wouldn't mind a C7 Z07 car though. Nasty and one of the hottest looking cars on the road along with the Mustang and Hellcat Charger, in my opinion.

Same applies to the gt500, and the gt350, but you're still stuck with "just" a GT.
IMO being a sleeper is a benefit, especially since there is not much difference in terms of creature comforts or looks compared to the other options. "Just a GT" able to easily beat c8's and well basically anything else on the road making people question their life decisions. Personally I dont like the level of attention brought to the driver of a supercar or other blatantly expensive cars it would seriously get old fast at gas stations etc. Not to mention the inevitable and unavoidable damage of driving hurts so much worse with expensive or rare cars which is why alot of people barely drive them. Seriously a rock chip on a 80k car is going to fuk you up for days mentally, it hurt me bad enough with a GT lol. I got my first and my worst rock chip on my car the 2nd day I owned this car when it had 75 miles on it and I am still kind of mad after 11 months and 11500 miles... and its just a GT.

I'm more than happy to be stuck with my base "just a GT". Light-ish weight, go fast parts, good tires, didn't break the bank, it's a fast fckn fun car.

When its "Just a GT" running 9's (some are 8's) its a sleeper. People dont expect to lose to "Just a GT" in their Veyrons, Aventadors, Z06's, ZR1's, literbikes, mclarens, hayabusa, c8 etc in the 1/4 mile.
