3361lbs curb weight on the C8. Badass
So 600-700lbs lighter than the top dog Mustang.
Yeah, some of you guys are right, the Mustang doesn’t compete with the corvette.
I’ll take mine in Ceramic Matrix Gray with Z51 and high rise spoiler, please.

Yep, I heard it was sub 3,500lbs. With the entire rear engine/trunk cover made of fiberglass, that alone drops a lot of weight. Also, the fact that it's just smaller due to it being a two-seater.

A naturally aspirated 500HP car that weighs 500lbs less than a Mustang GT with A10 and PerfPack.... There's just no way the Mustang can compete. With the C8's power to weight ratio, even the GT350 with a VooDoo engine still won't be able to touch it. Especially when the existing C7 Z06 can easily take down a GT350.

I really think the new C8-Z51 will make anything Ford has under $100,000 look like a joke. Even with that power to weight ratio, it will probably take down a GT500 on the track. I'm sure it'll just about tie in a drag race, but definitely spank the GT500 on the race track. The C8 will easily out perform in the handling department. It's just the basic physics behind a mid-engine design.

And why does everybody say it looks ugly?

When I first saw it, I immediately told myself, "Yep, looks like a new Corvette."

The lines are quite C7'ish, only the next step. To me it just looks like a Chevy. That's kind of the point.

Listen. That is dry weight. Will all fluids it with be around 3600 pounds. About 500 pounds less then the GT500.
The 2020 GT500 will crush the new Corvette in everything except 0-60. That will be close.

and don't think the C8 and the 911 Turbo are in the same category. No matter how much design and development money you spend, you can't make a front engine / rear wheel drive car perform the same as a mid engine / RWD or an AWD car. The physics just don't allow it.
No, but the C8, and the regular Carrera are definitely in the same category. Especially when the C8 will have more power, the same 2.9sec 911 Turbo 0-60 times, and cost a good $30,000 less. If you get the Z51, and strap a blower onto that 6.2L.... NOW you're in 911 Turbo territory for less than half the price tag.

In fact, I would venture to say, some gearhead is gonna buy a Z51, immediately pick up a set of twin 62's and go to town.

Crush? They'll have the same 0-60 specs at 2.9 secs. Yet, the Z51 will be NA.

Now, take the same 0-60 spec, and add it to the fact that the Z51 will weigh a good 500lbs less. The existing Z06 curb weight is already 3,444lbs. The C8 will probably match or weigh less. The new GT500 will probably be a good 4,000lbs car. In fact, some speculate even more....

There is no posisble way a GT500 will beat a C8-Z51 on the track. The mid-engine design has not only lower weight, but a ton of basic physics behind it. It will handle better and outperform the GT500 on just about anything that requires turning.

Just wait and see. In the proper hands, The GT500 will beat every car under $100,000 on the track.
I know this for a fact.

back of the car looks weird and it still has the black plastic in the bottom half, which looks cheap with anything other than black or dark blue paint.

Visibility and blind spots looks worse than the current Camaro :

This is gonna be fun. I too, am excited to see how well the GT500 will perform. However, I think basic physics will win the day with the Z51. A car that comes in at 3,400lbs, a naturally aspirated 500HP engine, and a lower center of gravity with a mid-engine layout. That's basically like a bigger version of a Cayman GT4. Have you ever seen how those perform on the track? They don't even slow down for turns!!! If a GT500 tried to corner the way a good mid-engine design will, it would be all over the place. It'll get around the track pretty quick, but you'll have a heart attack doing it. LOL

The one thing I'm not sure about, is the spoiler. Everything else seems OK to me. And the black plastic will surely have a carbon fiber after market version pretty quick.

GT500 will beat both of those cars.
