A little off topic, but I wonder what kind of pressure this puts on the Camaro. A nicely equipped 2SS is over $50K, and I can see the new 'Vette potentially reducing sales of the higher-end models. If they're not selling great now, and things get worse, it might contribute to really killing it off permanently.

The only mass-produced performance vehicle Ford has is the Mustang, so it makes sense to keep that, but with Chevy having both the Corvette and Camaro, there might only be room for one, in the current market.
Nobody wants a camaro, those things can out perform an F1 car, and still nobody would buy those ugly cars. (talking about the 2019+)

In real world pricing, 0 pressure. I got my A8 1SS for $33k, so 50% the cost of a C8 and 1LEs go for ~$40k so 66% of a C8 (still $20k less). May put pressure on ZL1 sales, but that's about it. If anything will likely help sales as the halo effect gets bodies in dealerships & talking about Chevy and presumably some of that tech will eventually flow down, thus improving Camaros.

But really, @1mic has it right, between the aesthetics of Camaros and the complete lack of functionality as a comfortable daily Camaros themselves are the biggest hinderance to Camaro sales.

That is all of our feelings lol Im trying to reassure myself that the GT500 is going to outperform the Corvette especially in the 1/4 mile which I think it still would in the 1/4 mile I see the Vette only performing better in the 0-60 simply because mid engine cars just downright hook up better but racing from a roll I bet the GT500 would downright leave the C8.

The C8 will be running 8s similar to a McLaren 720S when it's tuned with twin turbos or a massive blower. No doubt.

The twits that are willing to pay the ADM are the only reason it exists. It's lame because it ends up putting many of those cars into the hands of buyers that dont even use them. For example, I've seen one 350R at the track... one. Wtf else would you buy it for? The garage I guess.
So much truth in this. I was at the Cars and Coffee last week, met a cool guy with a 350, with a 500 on order. He is paying $25,000 over sticker because the dealer told him he has a huge wait list of people that will pay that markup and more. His 350 he wanted to sell for $70K with 3K miles. He will garage the 500. Just wow...

That waiting list just got a lot smaller as of last night. I wouldn't buy a base GT500 for $100k (with ADM) when I could get a mid-engine Z51 Corvette with options for $70k, esp. when that Vette will whip the GT500 0-60 with a lot less power.

Like I said in the GT500 post: I think the GT500 will beat the Z51 ME vette in the 1/4 slightly (i.e. 10.8 vs 10.9/11), and will have a large trap speed advantage over the 495 hp ME vette. But, stoplight to stoplight...that ME vette will be hard to beat for any car.

I was considering getting a GT500 in a few years, but most likely won't even consider it now. Why, when you can likely get a ME Z06 for the same price as a CF track GT500 that will get walked in every category? Or a Z51 Vette that will beat a base GT500 in every regard, except for the 1/4 mile (but still be close)?

Plus, as good as the GT500 looks, the ME vette is in another league. Parked next to each other, no one will even notice the GT500.

GT500 won't be anywhere remotely close to being a match on a track. Completely different car and purpose- C8 is purpose built, mid-engined, ligthweight true sportscar. I believe GT500 will still find its customers, but hopefully it will be a lesson for dealers trying to charge insane ADMs...

I think you are right, that was one hell of a reveal. I think that the C8 is going to be an amazing package. I will be following the real world tests closely for sure.

By going to DCT only, Ford missed an opportunity on the GT500 for the customers who are sorely disappointed in the lack of a manual on the c8. They will have the GT350 and I'm sure another variant here shortly, but they won't be anywhere near in performance.

The reveal show was terrible and boring. Comparing putting someone on a moon to a mid-engine Vette? Please. But the car itself, awesome.

Oh totally, I meant the C8 itself, haha. The show sucked.

Being GM fans they will either go for the ZL1 or ZL1 1LE for the manual. I don’t see them spending 60 grand but downgrading in performance just to get a manual.

I'm thinking the C8 may even impact GT350 pricing. At $60K each, I can see a lot of people going for the C8 because of the looks and mid-engine layout.
