Today was my first time racing the car at a proper race track.

This event is run by the International Roll Racing Association (IRRA). All runs HAVE to be from a roll. I thought it would be a good/safe way to do my first track races.

This was my best run of the day - trapped 115.17mph. Beat a BMW 135i who asked to race against me. He trapped 112.66mph.

The car is a 2017 Ford Mustang GT convertible, premium 401a package, automatic trans. Relevant mods are: 2018 intake manifold (non-ported), 47# injectors, JLT CAI, MAK Cat deletes, Solo Performance 3" catback exhaust, flex fuel tune (racing on pump e85), Ford Performance strut tower brace, Steeda progressive springs, BMR cradle lock out kit, Nitto G2 555s 285/30/20 tires.

I know - driver mod needed. I'd like to think the car might be able to trap 120mph with a good driver. I'll have to keep practicing.

This is the second time today that I have seen a roll race video. Before today I had not heard of this at a drag strip. I would be very curious as to what your car runs in a normal drag race.

Same here. Going to make it a point to get out and do a 1/4 mile drag. Will post back here when I do.

Did some laps around the oval at Homestead Miami Speedway today. Brought my dad along so he was able to drive it too.

They didn't require roll bars?

We had a 2016 GT/CS convertible 6AT (profile pic) and just traded it for a 2019 GT convertible 10AT and I'd love to put it on the 1/4, but I keep seeing that convertibles that run faster than 13.50 must have roll bars.

Hi. I've heard that from others.

The drag racing was at Palm Beach International Raceway. The oval parades was at Homestead Miami Speedway. Both of them have various events and each event has different rules. Only one so far required me to have a roll cage, so naturally I didn't go to that one. Most of the events i've seen will allow a convertible as long as the top is up, you have a helmet and car passes the very loose tech inspection. I was also told by one of them that rules changed since most newer cars can do faster than 13.50 so they made that a requirement if you go faster than something else. I can't remember the time but it was closer to 10 seconds. Your best bet is to contact the event organizer and ask, since the track themselves don't seem to care and put all responsibility on each event.

That was for hardtops only. Convertibles still require a minimum 5-point roll bar.

Well, that's obviously not an accurate statement. Considering you've just seen photos of my car taking part in roll racing on a 1/4 mile track in West Palm Beach and doing laps in an oval in Homestead. I also know for a fact that at Homestead Miami Speedway the 1/8 mile drag racing strip doesn't require any roll cage or roll bar for convertibles. I will be doing a 1/2 mile shoot out at Jumbolair in Ocala this October. They also don't require roll cage or roll bar. And there are other events I've inquired about that have told me it is not needed.
