It's not just straight line, it's when I go through twisties or coming out of a corner. The tires your talking about seem to be track focused. I need something good in the rain and for long road trips, lower temps, etc...
Do you think the Indy's or Conti Extreme better than the NT555's or a lateral move?
Sorry no they are track focused that happen to have crazy straight line grip and not good in the rain. At least even worse than you're describing. I just don't drive it is going to rain heavy or all day. Not sure you'll be able to get best of both worlds. I mean the continental extremes are supposedly great and very very close to the super sports and I didn't trust them in the rain.

G2s are a summer tire. I have 275/305s and they work extremely well for me. I have 255s DWS06 for the rain.

Get the PS4s or PSSs. I blew the doors off my g2s, especially in the rain. They were not very good tires.
Thank you for the post. Actually I'm looking at Conti ECS. The G2 are scary in the rain.

I forgot to mention that one of my front g2’s tires has a bad bead or belt in it that took me a long, frustrating time to diagnose. Only maybe 15k on them

I've really, really liked my set of 255/40R19 Indy 500s so far for street use, even the very aggressive kind. Very good grip in dry and wet, quiet and comfortable too. I've had none of the issues you're describing that seem to be fairly typical for the NT555 G2.

You've highlighted a common misconception many people have. The MPSS and PS4S are truly excellent tires in the rain.

Thanks Brian, I know you’ve put them to the test on the same Chicagoland streets as I drive in daily. I’ve never heard someone say something bad about them

So far I'm digging the indys though. They're not quite as grippy in the dry as the MPSS but the value is better, imo. Don't take that to mean lacking, though. They seem to wear like iron too.

Conti ECS i PS4S are the best tires currently in the market for all conditions unless it's cold. PS4S are absolutely mind blowing in the rain, ECS supposedly too but I don't have personal experience with them. They also have excellent dry grip. Only drawback of Michelins are their price.

Nittos are junk as a performance tire.

Thanks KZ, so the general consensus I'm getting from this thread is Continentals ECS or Indy 500's are best bang for the buck and if I want to fork up the doh the Michelin PS4's are worth the money but may be overkill for an aggressive street driver. Oh, and the Nitto's do kinda suck unless you get them super wide for dry and don't drive in the rain.

My son was in my car on a rainy day. He said his Conti's did not slip like the Nittos.
