I'm looking for a location to attach the ground and I found what appears to be a ground located behind rear-most interior trunk panel (see pics). If someone knows this isn't a good ground, please let me know.

That will be a good ground as it is a factory ground.

That's what I was thinking but I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something. It just seemed too easy.

Its perfect. I undid it and took it to bare metal too as it's painted under there

There's something else I don't understand about this powered sub. It has a wiring harness that plugs into it that not only brings speaker inputs but also has power and ground wires. The wires in the harness are 16 gauge yet the instructions say to use 10 gauge. What is the point of 10 gauge wire if it connects into 16 gauge? It doesn't make any sense.

because the run to the battery is so long you need the bigger wire, The manufacturer is saving money with the 16 ga short length , it will handle the power required by the sub , the length they give you but any longer the voltage drop will cause the wire to heat up or the amp to not function
So they want you to put the proper sized wire in during install.

Thanks for all the help with my questions. I finally got the sub fully installed today. I had to spread the work out over several days (not all in a row) because of time and it being so freakin' hot here in Texas! It definitely makes a huge difference.
