19GT and changing out Front Struts to new Steeda Active Struts. Pretty simple but can't get the two 21MM strut bolts to move. The nuts came off no problem, but the bolts are in there. I have an 18" breaker bar and can't get them to spin out. They won't move if I hit with hammer.

Any Ideas-Suggestions?

You gotta give em a pretty good smack with a hammer. 4 lb sledge works well.

Put the nut back on backwards flush with the bolt to give you a larger area to hit with the sledge. I’ve done this twice now and you really gotta whack the shit outta those bolts repeatedly to get them out. The second time I did it without the nut and I ended up mushrooming the head of the bolts a bit from the serious whacking.

The joint is splined, so no amount of turning is going to get them out. You need to use a hammer. Put the nut on backwards and thread on till its flush with the end of the bolt, then whack with a big hammer (4 lb sledge at least). You'll probably need to turn the wheel to get the right angle. 8 lb sledge makes it quick work, just a few smacks to get them moving.

Thank you for quick responses. Two cups of Coffee, 4 pound BFH and a lot of hammering and out they came.

Appreciate the help

For future readers, put a jack under the control arm and raise it just enough to take preload downward force off the strut. This may take some trial and error to get enuogh preload off the fasteners. But once done, those splined bolts nearly pop out with a hit or two. Be sure to use the backwards nut method described above. Put them back in using the same technique.
