My car was missing badly and eventually had a random misfire code (did not show up till PBD sent me a “diagnostic tune “)

Pretty sure it was the leaded gas that killed the 02 sensors since I did not have trouble till I started running it .

I never had trouble with the Boostane.

I ran it with 93 throughout last year with the whipple tune which went 10.2@138 in the fall,

Yeah that too .
I was running unleaded race gas (Sunoco GT plus ) before I deleted my cats
I got greedy and started running maximal (116) after I deleted the cats (waiting to install the fuel system to run E85 ). Car was tuned for 116 but then started running like crap . No check engine lights so my mechanic insisted that it was not the the 02 sensors .
It was breaking up real bad and felt like a miss although no MIL .
Went from trapping 140 to 110 mph !!!

I thought may be my clutches were toast so I did the expensive swap ...and car ran the same .
Rob finally sent me a tune that identified an “OL fault”
The rears were already off in the tune but I just swapped all 4 and all is right again(back to unleaded race gas ... still waiting to get in on the fuel system install to run E85 )

Got damn it. I put about 2 to 3 gallons of 110 leaded fuel in my car a couple times mixed with 93. So I need to run 110 unleaded fuel when I mix it with 93.

I highly recommend replacing plugs and o2 sensors often if you are using high concentrations of octane booster or leaded fuels, including boostane.

Changing them with every other oil change seems a bit excessive, but it helps avoid the problems before they occur.

Picture of my plugs after 8 16 oz cans of boostane, no other octane booster or fuel system cleaner. One can put in at 1/4-1/2 tank once/twice a month while at the track. The next can on fresh plugs my O2 sensors started acting up, should have replaced them with my plugs. Orange dust of death just like the rest of the octane boosters that work.

I think I just might get a fuel system and go E85. What's the pros and cons of E85?

Pros: cheap race fuel.
Much safer for your engine.
Chemical cooling.

Cons: e85 Distribution network.
Return style fuel system. Required to run it. Cost of RFS. $1000-3000.

Honestly it’s just not worth running race gas / boostane if you need the high octane .
.
If you are shooting for 104 octane it takes a high concentration of octane booster
A can of boostane to 5 gallons of 93 is needed for 104 .
Octanium will only get you 100-101.-adding a can to 10 gallons

I had been running 104(GT plus) until I got greedy and messed up my 02 sensors with 116 .
It’s was not too bad at $8 a gallon but they just increased their price to $10.

I can get GTX which is 98 octane at the pump for $7 but I then add octanium (a can to 10 gallons should make it 106 in theory )
A can of boostane to 5 gallons should makes it 109 in theory .
I have even added a can of boostane to 5 gallons of 104 to make 115 in theory ..

So far I have seen no knock which straight 104 or my 98 plus octanium mix so 109/115 is overkill for my tune(23*) and I just dropped down to 3.25 grip tech pulley (no slip )

So far I have been fastest with E85 and 3.625 pulley but that was in spring /400 DA.-10.0@139

With the BAP/DW400 I would have been out of fuel dropping a pulley size so I started running race gas with a 3.5 pulley -it ran about the same or slower (10.1-10.2@138)

It’s been hot lately and DA was 4000 today but I only went 10.1@139 with 3.25 pulley /104 tune but picked up 3 mph from the 3.375 pulley (3.375 and 3.25 are grip tech )

I just swapped plugs /ai2 sensors but I can still feel some break up( logs have not not been as smooth as when I ran E85 )

Funny thing is I have had the fuel system since spring and all the money I have spent on race gas would have more than paid for the install .
Even with this heat I expect to go much faster once I switch to E85 ( waiting for install date since my guy at the dealer is booked )

Race gas is expensive. Cheapest I could find. Was 110 leaded when I was running My nitrous 95GT. My sai Li kit cost a grand. I’ll make that up in a year running e85. Versus paying for boostane. Or race gas. It’s as safe as race gas for the car. E85 make power. Won’t dirty up o2s. Seams like a no brainer. If you want to make a little more power than a base supercharger kit offers on 93. I think pump e85 is the way to go. Provided you can get the stuff in your area. Different strokes. I wanted a 9 second full weight daily driver. Fairly sure I’ll have that this fall. I’m in no way trying to force my opinion on anyone. There’s pros and cons to everything.

Wish I had E85 in Maine, I've already got the FORE L2 fuel system for it. I'm still trying to make power on Meth though and haven't given up there.

I agree with you a 100% .
No argument here . I have probably sent enough on race gas already to have bought another fuel system . Lol

Aside from the octane E85 has an extremely beneficial effect on combustion chamber temps. Helps keep detonation, high iat's, and butting rings in check. It's the next best thing to pure methanol. If you can get it.... The barreled stuff is awesome but not practical for the blue collar crowd.
